2 years ago we got a new bathroom, and I had a very clear idea of what I wanted and it was easy peasy! Now we are planning to totally renovate our bathroom and I have no idea what I want, bombard me with ideas please, I just have no idea? All I know is I want a bath (currently only have a shower!) and I have 3 children

How big is your bathroom? Will you be able to fit in a bath and a separate shower or will you need to have a bath with a shower over it? Is there space for a freestanding bath?

Do you picture a bathroom with mainly tiled surfaces or do you see it more like a like this kind of thing?

Can I suggest not having a lovely wooden bath panel?

They don't mix well with water.

I'd have a wet room with a big shower.

I do wonder about all these wood heavy bathrooms – the bath in the photo I linked isn’t even sealed at the bottom. Maybe it’s a trend among people who manage to bathe and wash their hair in a couple of inches of tepid water. Looks very nice in the photos though

An adult DC had a wooden bath panel one and had to change it after less than 5 years as it warped and looked terrible. They had a shower over the bath with a glass screen.

I also don't understand how people easily clean around a four footed bath when one side is just a few cm from a wall. It looks so difficult.

Isn't the issue here that footed baths should sit out in a room and not near a wall? I remember being in a bathroom with a bath bang in the middle with a great view. That's quite a trade off. However if you like baths then it might be a good idea to pick a spot that you'll enjoy the vantage point.

If I had three children I'd be looking at trying to have two bathrooms. Sometimes parents do the en-suite thing so they can step away and get some peace without being harassed.

A bathroom and a shower room is useful, and having two toilets is pretty useful too. If you have the space that is.

We have a downstairs toilet but only one family bathroom, we've only had a shower since buying it 3 years ago and it's so hard with 3 small children, we have to shower with the youngest and it's a logistical nightmare I'm so ready to get a bath!

@3rdtimeidiot I'm one of three, and bath times were never easy. One day they'll have some autonomy!

I do wonder if you could go the wet room way and have multiple shower heads.

We have a low bath (American-style) with a screen that folds right back for access when bathing the children, and a shower over the top (we also have an en-suite wet room, but we added the shower to the bath for when the children are older). We do also have a tongue and groove bath panel! But it is moisture resistant MDF with a skirting board, finished with eggshell paint and sealed with silicone around the bottom. Our bathroom is tiny though, around 2x2m, so we had to make the best of it.
