New kitchen-did anybody else find it overwhelming?

There is so much to think of and pull together. Feel bad asking( a lot of )questions even though we’re going to be paying££££. Seem to be double checking everything and making changes - a lot. Can’t work it if this is just the process or I’m being over cautious. Either way it’s sooo stressful!

Yes it's stressful. Whatever you do there will be something you wish you'd done differently and which you'll quickly forget about and never notice again.

Sounds familiar - had one a few years ago - stressful but worth it.

I think it’s quite overwhelming to be honest.
There are so many decisions to make and you don’t want to miss anything or get it wrong as the cost is astronomical!

I found it helpful to look at LOTS of kitchens on Pinterest and put together a list of what you like or don’t like.
Take your time to formulate what you want from the new kitchen as well as what you don’t want.
Does your existing kitchen work for you or are there things that annoy or hinder you and you’d be glad to sort these with the new kitchen.
Don't be rushed as it’s a big decision that will be with you for years.

It is quite stressful but I think you just have to trust yourself!

I was going white all along, before I even started actually planning it & then saw a picture of a petrol blue one in a Wren catalogue right at the last minute & changed my mind!

7 years later still really happy with it!

If it's even remotely helpful just remember it's just a bunch of overpriced cupboards!

Equally remember that everything can be painted over, replaced or updated.

It’s definitely a complicated process!

Even if you want to make your own plan and use DIY Kitchens it’s helpful to have a couple of experts draw up plans. They’ll be a good starting point even if you end up with something slightly different.

Go and visit a few showrooms to get a feel for what you like and don’t like.

I loved planning mine, probably more than I enjoyed planning my wedding 😂 I could do it for a living quite happily!

Don’t feel guilty about asking questions and making changes. It’s a big investment! We had a number of very different designs done by different companies and some just changed the doors and kept the layout the same despite us saying what didn’t work for us. When I saw the design we went with it was one I had in my head but hadn’t realised it. I love it.

hire an interior designer. If you are planning on spending ££££ then getting a professional in is a great shout

First time around we used Karen at OnePlan who really helped with this as I was feeling totally overwhelmed too.

This time around I left it too late to book with Karen and went with a different independent kitchen designer. Wasn't anywhere near as good.
