Wipeable paint

So my son has profound autism - we're in the process of renovating & have already decorated a number of the rooms, but need to repaint after a matter of weeks Confused

DS just creates marks, everywhere - drinks splashes/ food/ dirty handprints. It is unavoidable.

Would it be really odd to paint the whole house in bathroom paint? It's so far the only room which looks ok, as I can wipe the walls - even after he smeared charcoal toothpaste across the walls yesterday!

We have always used Dulux Diamond Matt paint (for similar reasons) as it is washable (you can actually scrub it with a white washing up scrubber - the ones for non-stick pans) and it comes up like new! I usually just use a microfibre cloth and warm water though.

It is expensive but I think it's worth it for not having to repaint! Also, some bathroom paint has mould inhibitor in it which isn't very nice stuff to have everywhere.

Kitchen paint might be more durable and resist stains and grease? I used dulux or crown in my kitchen and it's been really hard wearing, there's patches on the wall near the cooker that get wiped daily and look good even 8 or 9 years later.

There's lots of washable paint around these days, our house is done in it.

Zinsser Perma White is a scrubbable paint available in Matt finish which despite the name can be tinted to pretty much any colour. Johnstone's Decorator Centres sell it. If your nearest one doesn't do the tinting it can be ordered in for you. We have it in our bathroom. No sheen to it, goes on beautifully and cleans really easily. It's worth paying more for good products ime.

We have this paint too. It's fantastic stuff. Nothing stains or marks it. Recommended.

I got biro out of farrow and ball cream Dead Flat. Super impressive stuff!

Obviously there’s a slight indent mark but the ink is gone.

I wish I stumbled across this thread sooner. Just got bog standard tradesman paint, but am in a similar position as OP and have profoundly autistic son who decided earlier to clean a window with a pear 😂 paint jobs last days/weeks. We live in rented though, so dont want to spent £80 a tin on paint when we could get turfed out in a couple of months.
