Keeping leftover wallpaper

How many of you keep left over wallpaper? Why do we do this? Have you ever ended up using it? I’ve always done this but I just don’t know why. If I throw it out you can guarantee I will need it. But I just want to throw it away.

We’ve kept left over wallpaper, it was quite expensive and will come in handy if any part needs redecorating due to damage.

I’ve just brought two rolls down from the loft somewhere we could reuse the plastic box for storing tax paperwork forever instead lol.

Beautiful wallpaper can be used for so many different projects! I would not throw it away but instead use as drawer or shelf liner paper. Use as wrapping paper for gifts or flowers. Use as table protection for craft or diy projects. Use with grandchildren as painting surface for murals....

You'll need to wrap your jotters / schoolbooks in it surely (child of the 70s)?

I love leftover wrapping paper — it’s so versatile! It’s not just handy for patching up walls during a redecoration. I remember watching House Doctor as a kid, and Ann Maurice would always come up with brilliant DIY projects using it — so inspiring! One of my secondary school MFL teachers also used to have us cover our exercise books with wrapping paper, which was such a clever idea. I suppose wallpaper could work just as well for that too!

And you can test paint sample colours by "colouring in" the back of spare wallpaper.

I keep some leftover wallpaper - just a part roll - just in case of damage. You can patch up part of a wall if there is some damage, maybe scratching it whilst moving furniture.

When I bought my house I had a door walled up. Amazing the mid-century anaglypta in that room was still available and I was able to get a roll. You would now never know a door was there now

I used to keep it for rainy day crafty stuff. Roll it out on the floor and let the kids loose.

We had a bad leak down one wall, in a room that's a pain to redecorate entirely. Really wish we had a bit of the paper still.

There was damage to a wall in my parents' house during some minor electrical work. "Ta-dah!" said my mum (no, not really) as she brought down a roll from the loft.

Unfortunately, the roll kept in the dark in the loft had aged differently to the paper on the wall in the sunny room. It no longer matched and the room had to be fully redecorated.

Fortunately (for me) all my exercise books that year ended beautifully matching, up wrapped in rather lovely fancy wallpaper 😄
