Hi everyone, I’m new so please be kind!

Basically I am looking for some help or advice as I have burnt my living room carpet. I got a mini chimney for Christmas which turned out to burn more violently than I anticipated..it set off the fire alarm so in my panic I blew it out causing hot ash to fall on the carpet. My husband isn’t here tonight but will be back in the morning, I’d like to make it look better if possible as he’s not going to be very happy! Normally he would be fine about accidents however in the last few days the gear stick on my car has broken, also the cooker hob and the washing machine so it’s not great timing! Please help, any advice is appreciated! Thank you

Is there a patch under furniture that you could snip some of the fabric from? Not the whole carpet and backing, just the pile.
put superglue on the burn and sprinkle the pile clippings on. Don’t press down as this will flatten it - let the glue dry completely first.

You could get a sharp blade and cut tufts of carpet out from an offcut, or area you'd never normally see like under a couch that never moves, or from inside a cupboard where you used an offcut. Then glue the individual tufts into the damaged area? You could try a couple of tufts and see if it's a potential option or not. You'd need to cut them off at the very base or they'd be too short.

Or cut a section of carpet out from under the couch (or somewhere else that's always unseen)and cut the whole burned sections out of carpet and swap them?

Not sure how difficult either of these things are. I think that's a tactic used by insurance companies but they use a hole punch thingy to cut sections out and swap.
Or they'd replace the whole carpet if you have accidental damage on your insurance but you'd have to pay the excess. So prob not an option.

Maybe a rug might be the way to go.

A rug or strategically positioned chair

You might be able to cut some of the black off of the burnt bits with some.sharo nail scissors
