Do sinks (tap)under kitchen window need to be exactly centre?

Upcycling kitchen and want to use existing plumbing but it’s off centre in order to fit a dish washer next to sink. We didn’t design it.

It will look atheistically appealing if it’s centre but doesn’t sound like you have much choice unless you change the pipework.

No.

I would always choose function over looks. I would always want to squeeze in a dishwasher then just put up with the sink being off-centre. Only you will notice.

We ensured our sink was directly below the right-hand pane, precisely so that whoever is washing up can look out of the window into the garden and not be off-centre.

We have a sink under a shelf with two wall lights and the tap isn’t central. I thought this would bother me but it really doesn’t.

Ours was meant to be but ended up not being. Has never bothered us.

No. Probably nicer doing the washing up and having clear view out the window

You can also get flexable water pipes which would allow some degree of movement.

Blimey, I've never even thought about it before! Just checked our kitchen, and it isn't centred, and I have never noticed a problem. It's not a remotely symmetrical kitchen, to be honest..

It probably wouldn't work if it was centred because of the cupboard runs either side.

If possible make sure it's aligned with or central to something, rather than having everything randomly spaced. For example in my kitchen the sink cabinets are lined up with the island cabinets even though that means that the sink isn't central under the window. Also try to avoid 'not quite' lining up as IMHO this always looks like a mistake rather than a deliberate choice.

Centred always looks good but if it can't be centred then make sure it's well off centre as being just a little bit off will look much worse than looking intentionally not in the centre.
