Curtains too short for living room?

Hi there, can I please ask an opinion. I've recently moved in to a new house. I got grey curtains online but I've been debating with myself on whether they're too short. My mum thinks they're not but I'm on the fence and think I'd prefer them longer. All thoughts welcome and appreciated!

Thanks, ya, I.was considering that. My tv connection is the other side of the room but maybe i could put in 2 comfy chairs and a wooden table there or something

I think that will look ok, if you put chairs there you’re not going to see the ends anyway. I’d fill the room with furniture you have/choose and then decide if you like the curtains or not

Thanks for all the replies and advice! It has been great to hear others opinions and experiences. It has helped a lot and I will be taking it all into consideration! I'm leaning more towards blinds now, after hearing all on curtain height and thinking about the height of the windowsill and length of the curtains. Also with having a cat! Thanks for all the advice and an early happy Christmas:)

Yes - I have to wash the kitchen ones a lot as they get hairy and occasionally my tabby likes to wee on them!

😅oh lord

Not only would I have the curtains floor length, I would also raise the curtain pole if possible so that it is closer to the ceiling. It will make the ceiling look higher.

I totally agree, curtains should start at ceiling height and go to the floor. The curtain pole should also be at least 4 inches wider than the window on each side.

If you’re leaning towards blinds, Blinds2Go is brilliant – much more affordable than Hillary’s. Get thermal-lined if you can, they pay for themselves in energy costs. Otherwise yes, “kissing” the floor or puddling; the awkward foot off the floor length never works.

What fresh hell are those windowsill skimming curtains? Surely that's the length for blinds in the window recess but never curtains that are outside the recess. I'm shocked that anyone thinks that's a good look, looks like my sons trousers when he's grown overnight.

Sorry but no to these, too short.
Perhaps look at roman blinds or there are lots of nice ready made curtains online (also on ebay or Facebook marketplace too where you can find fab vintage or used curtains for much less than new).
Hillarys is very overpriced so I would avoid them if budget is an issue.
IMO gathered headings look nicer too.

They look fine to me. I would only put floor length curtains on a floor length window! Why would you hang a curtain over the wall? Imo curtains should stop a generous but not ridiculous amount below the windowsill. Hard to tell from your pic how big the window is

If you have children or pets the floor length curtains will just get manky really fast. And far too easy for cats (or small people) to play with them or try and imb them.
