Temporary kitchen surface- what and where to buy?

Need a new kitchen surface but can’t afford to do the whole kitchen for a few years.

Any suggestions? Thinking composite?Any good places for fitting? Don’t want to spend a lot but equally don’t want a shit job.

If it is only for a couple of years just get laminate.

It’s potentially 5 years and replacing laminate that has rotted round the sink so would prefer something slightly better but wondering about cost difference.

Laminate will be fine. It just needs sealing properly round the sink. I think you can get extra dense laminate which might be slightly more water resistant?

Either just wrap what you have or replace it with the cheapest option from the diy store.

How old is your current laminate?

really anything should last 5 years ( if you don't leave it with a puddle of water)

Another vote for laminate. Definitely not worth upping the cost for the sake of 5yrs.

What the difference in price between composit and laminate?

Composite is really quite expensive. It has to be made to order to fit your space as well.

If only temporary use laminate.

Ra1nRa1n · 24/11/2024 10:04

Ok that’s good to know. Any recommendations of places that do it?

I've always had laminate, last kitchen was replaced after about 20 years - the laminate was completely fine. Just make sure it is fitted and sealed properly.
