Heated towel rails

Looking for some opinions on the effectiveness of different kinds of heated towel rails! Have to go for one that runs off the central heating rather than electric, due to proximity to the shower, but stuck on whether to go for the first or the second type? Looks like the ladder type could dry more towels at once, but the other would throw out more heat... hence the quandary!

I have the ladder type, hard-wired electric (toasty towels even if the heating is off) in one house and central heating radiator in another.
I’ve added further bolt-on towel rail and hooks to allow better air circulation. That way the radiator isn’t swamped with wet towels.

I considered the antique style on the right as our apartment was built in 1906 but apart from not finding one, to me they feel a bit Frankenstein-ish with their different pipes. Sorry…

Agree, I've always wondered why the middle bit has to be white on those antique ones!

We have one of the radiator type, it's ok for warming the room and one towel.
The ladder type are not particularly efficient as radiators so get a good big one. You can fold the towels to fit two or three on.

The ladder it's brilliant. We have a few more rings than that though. Not quite sure what that second option is .the rail is the radiator why would you need a radiator on top of it?

Yes, I was also wondering if the reason the radiator bit was incorporated was because the ladder wasn't hot enough on its own - but it seems from your answer that the ladder part is enough! Good to know.
