Coving removed - how to cover mess left

When the previous occupants moved out of my flat the coving was removed. It has left a real mess, uneven, torn wallpaper. I've tried stripping the wallpaper in one room but the plaster was awful underneath, so I'm loath to do that again. I can't afford a decorator and can't wallpaper over it myself. I'm loath to put up more coving.

Any ideas how I can cover it? I'll post photos later.

I'm going to paint over the wallpaper with white paint. As mentioned I'm on a tight budget and due to disabilities not able to wallpaper or do anything too ambitious.

I can’t help with the actual question I am afraid but are they actually allowed to have removed it? Is it not part of fixtures and fittings? If they have removed it when they’re not meant to have, then presumably the onus would be on them to rectify?

You can attach coving with basic nails so not that tricky really

If you bought the property get the solicitor to get them to pay the costs to get a professional to sort this out

If it's HA or similar again they need to sort this out

No it's a rental property.

I can't stand in a ladder for long hence not being able to put up coving really. Do you think it would be the easiest option? I worry about cutting it to size and what to do with corners. I'm definitely not a handy woman!

I've spoken to landlord, they won't do it.
