Hi all, looking for suggestions/ help!

We moved into our new build a couple of years ago. The cream gloss cupboards were already installed so we couldn’t swap them. We still haven’t decorated our kitchen as I’ve just no idea what paint colour to pair with it. I just want a neutral. It’s magnolia at the moment which is just too yellow for me. Ideally I wanted a white but they’re all too bright/ don’t seem to match. Can anyone offer suggestions? Wish I had an eye for this sort of thing but I’ve no idea what to try.

Take a door off and kitchen go to your local paint shop who will advise you on a good white that tones with your cupboards - make sure you look at the door and paint swatch outside too. Then go home and test the colour in your kitchen.

Thank you, I didn’t realise I could do this? Feel a little odd walking into b&q with my cupboard door but suppose they might be used to it. Will they offer suggestions then? I didn’t realise they would help in this way. Thanks x

Try a specialist paint shops like Brewers - they will always offer help. Paintwell too. Or go into a farrow &ball shop - you don't have to buy their paint. Our local homebase had a woman who was amazing with paint colours - knew the stock and shades so well. It's worth finding someone at a paint shop - even though I'm fairly confident with colours it's good to get someone else's opinion.

We have very similar cupboards and our walls are painted a very neutral but warm hessian sort of colour. I don’t know what it actually is as it was painted by the previous owners, but it works really well. It’s like a creamy beige so it’s not bright and cold like white, but it’s neutral and cosy and doesn’t clash with the cabinets. Not sure how else to explain it!
