I need some help please. Our Ikea Ektorp corner sofa, bought to tide us over whilst we tried to find a better sofa, is on it's last legs after 7 solid years of service. So, please hive mind, where do I go to buy a new sofa that isn't going to cost a year's mortgage payments?
I love, and appreciate, brands like Maker & Son but that is just not feasible right now so looking for something less costly that does us at least the same amount of time as the Ikea sofa has lasted. I also want to be able to sit on it first rather than just order blindly online and I live in the south east (but willing to travel to a show room).
The Ikea sofa has removable covers and this has been such a win as I can chuck them in the machine whenever something is spilt - not just kids, I once dropped an entire bowl of soup on the sofa and the covers came out like new so I'd love the same but this seems to be impossible to find. I like a high back and not keen on a scatter cushion back. Nothing to low either. Size wise I'm looking for at least a 3 seater, and depending on cost, also a 2 seater (even if this is added later). Could do corner again but would rather do 2 sofas so if I need to replace one it's a bit less costly.
I like the look of the DFS patterdale (mainly because I love the rose pink shade they do) but I'm aware that they aren't always the best quality (unless I can be told otherwise?) and the Next Stamford, Heath or Erin but again unsure on quality? Our previous sofas were Gplan and great quality but not sure I like the styles.
Budget - ideally under £2k.
Does anyone have any bright ideas or am I just going to end up ordering the same again from Ikea as 'better the devil you know'?
