Magnetic blackboard in playroom??

Has anyone painted part of a wall in magnetic and/or blackboard paint? My two boys have decided they prefer sharing a room so one room is now a very messy "playroom" which is really just a room filled with stuff that doesn't get used. I need to reorganise it, but also thinking about how it can be used more and they both love drawing on the windows but I get so sick of cleaning that off that I thought this might be a nice idea?
But, is that all it is- and will it be more hassle than it is worth??

We painted a small wall with magnetic paint in my daughter's bedroom, I loved it but she was too young to appreciate it at the time and then we moved 😆 sorry, not very helpful but it was lovely to have

We painted a wall with magnetic blackboard paint in our previous house - we really liked it! It probably works best if the plaster on your walls is very smooth though (ours was slightly textured as it was an older house and it was a bit harder to 'wipe down' to get the chalk off).

We painted one when our dc were little. We have just painted over it and it was an absolute nightmare.
Do not do it!
If I had my time again I would buy a wall mounted one (as dc loved it) but would never paint one again.

Hmm, split opinions😂.
I have just found some magnetic blackboard adhesive that comes in huge sizes, so I might try that, and hope it doesn't peel the paint off! Might be the "temporary" solution!

I have a big 'chalkboard' in the kitchen that we did with blackboard paint. We then put some thin frames around the edges so it looks like more a blackboard than just paint (plus a bigger one across the bottom that acts as a chalk holder/tray). So easy to to do and the kids love it. Highly recommend.

We had a magnetic blackboard wall in our old house. It took a lot of coats of paint to become magnetic (somewhere between 5 and 10 coats). My brother got a bit of sheet steel and painted it with a single coat of normal blackboard paint and ended up with a better version. The other thing to remember is that chalk dust is a pain. We now have a cork wall in DSs room, much better!
