What curtain heading in this situation?

House is a 17th C cottage, low ceilings, and in most rooms I've gone for short curtains with a gathered heading, for a cottagey feel.

One room in the house is slightly more formal, with a higher ceiling and feels more 18th C (the beams were boxed in in this period)- I am thinking of floor length linen curtains in here in pale sage green. But would you go for a gathered top again or pinched pleat? (I don't like pencil pleat.)

I know there are a few curtain experts on here- any advice gratefully received (from experts or non experts!)

Fun question. I think I would like a pinch pleat, double like this one, or maybe a triple pinch pleat depending on the room dimensions.

I like that double pinch pleat or a goblet pleat- but you need a bit of room height for that.

I always imagine linen to be kind of fancy-but-relaxed (in a good way!). So I'd go for a gathered top rather than pinch- or goblet pleats, because personally I feel theyre nore formal. Maybe a "cottage pleat" header? (one of those slightly flouncy tops) if you want something fancier?
