(D.I.Y not fit!)
Hi, I was just after some advice. Recently we had a new neighbour move into the block of flats we live in (private wanted property) the issue is over the past ..well over a month the neighbours been having extremely noisy work done and sound travels so easily (you can hear next door sneeze\their toilet flush for example) no common courtesy to let others in the building know either to say about this not that they have to but as a common courtesy as they've been here a while so know how easy sound travels in the block. I also have a child with send needs and sensory disorder linked up to it so to say their not coping well with the noise is a understatement (home learning so is at home during the day) but the work is being carried out by builders and by the neighbour themself and so it's EVERY DAY well has been just 2 days of no noise since started. I spoke with the neighbour and was informed it's be ongoing for several more months as the previous tenants apparently left it in a state when I asked and the attitude seemed to be tough it's not anti social hours (to be fair this has been true so far until recently but no proof it is them just a idea when hearing it in the evenings also recently) but a bit off that attitude especially as I myself was being calm, reasonable and just asking a question but also pointing out it's happening Monday to sunday so unfair to others in the building who may be home (we have neighbours who work nights too for example) Just wondering where do we stand in this? As my landlord said it's classed as a noise distrurbance as is excessive noise as daily but not much they can do as not their tenant doing it, I've put a complaint into the council also as it's daily and extremely loud and the neighbours attitude showed they wouldn't be open to a compromise. I've recording of the noise and kept a diary as suggested by a family member for a noise disturbances complaint but really what other options are there as we're having to leave the house all day and spend money in cafes etc with Wi-Fi to get work done when no tables in the library again not a ideal situation. Thank you for any advice

There are fixed hours for building work, Saturday and Sunday are quite restricted. Check what they are doing.

There's strict hours for paid builders but for diy it's more lax. Keep a diary of noise

I don't think there's anything you or they can do. It's just part of living where you can hear your neighbours. Homes need maintaining and sometimes modernising, and it is just a noisy process. If they're blaring a radio while they're doing it, then that would be something you could ask them to turn down, but I don't see what else they can do. There are set hours I believe, which are shorter on the weekend I think. As long as they're adhering to that, then you all just need to get through it.

I do get how annoying it is. I was on maternity leave while my adjoined neighbours had their loft converted - it felt like they were drilling next to my bed sometimes.

@FeatherBoas the neighbour just said the previous tenant left it in a state but didn't go into what exactly was being done, in all honesty in how their attitude seemed I doubt they would go into detail. And the restrictions for the weekends have been broken repeatedly by the builders unfortunately.
@mitogoshi yes when looking up restrictions on builders carrying works out it appears those have been broken repeatedly. Will do.
@seven201 I get what your saying but the builders have been carrying out the works after the set hours especially on a weekend and then when they leave the neighbour send to continue the work. It's been like they've been trying to come though the wall! And their not a direct next door neighbour! I can get on with it but my child has a sensory disorder linked to send issues so their funding it extremely hard
