Decision paralysis: northeast facing kitchen

Tomorrow we have to finalise our choices for our new kitchen units and worktops and I'm having last minute jitters: it's so much money and we will have to live with it for a long time so I'm scared of getting it wrong! We (I say we, but DH doesn't much care) had been planning on going for white shaker style units with white marble-effect quartz worktops and probably a warm white or a neutral colour on the walls but it's a fairly big northeast facing room and with everything integrated, including the tall larder cupboards and fridge freezer, I'm now a bit worried it's going to look very cold. The floor is probably going to be parquet style vinyl so I'd hoped that will warm it up a bit but I'm now wondering about whether switching to another wall colour would be enough, or whether even with a colour on the walls it's going to be too much white and I need to pick a different cabinet colour. Honest feedback appreciated!

Could you do a colour just on the bottom cabinets? So keep the top ones white but the bottom ones and fridge cupboard etc could be blue or green maybe? Rather than them all being the same colour, if you’ve still got some white cabinets at the top it should keep it light, but the coloured ones at the bottom add a pop of colour.

Thanks for this suggestion, but I'm not that keen on using 2 colours as I think it's a trend that will date and we won't be changing the kitchen again for a long time.

Stick with your choices. Classic and easy to live with

Yeah and you can brighten it up with accessories

I've got white worktops and units in my north east facing kitchen and it's not cold at all. I've got amtico wood effect flooring and a splash of colour in my splashback. Nice years on and I still love it.

Your choice sounds lovely, make sure you have warm white lighting and warm coloured towels. A warm neutral on the walls would be good too. Our kitchen is north facing which is a constant cool light, I really like it.

Thanks everyone for your replies (and that's reassuring @Happydays321 about your NE facing kitchen). I've stuck with my original plan and ordered the white. I'll wait until they're in to pick a wall colour but a warm neutral with coloured accessories and blinds sounds like a good way to go.

Get LED daylight ceiling panels. We have the Artika ones from Costco. They are on dimmers and mimic natural sunlight. Sunlight is warm. You can get LED light panels where you can change the warmth of the lighting, as well as the brightness.

We put a big shade sail up in the summer, which gives us a lovely spot to sit outside but means that there is no more direct sunlight indoors. I like to set the dimmer to match the outside light beyond the sail, and it makes it look as though there is nothing obstructing the natural sunlight - except that there is no glare and no heat.
