Feeling worried about the smell/vapours after decorating

We've just put some panelling up in our kitchen with an adhesive called Gripfill, and had all the windows doors open in there while doing so - apart from the door into the rest of the house which weve kept closed. I've woken up in the middle of the night to find the smell has wafted up from the kitchen and I can smell it in our bedroom, where our 6month old sleeps. Now feeling very worried that the vapours will be toxic for her and wondering whether I should get her out the house (but it is the middle of the night and I have no one who could put us up). Ive opened the window in our bedroom to get some air, but feeling very worried and headachey, so would massively appreciate any reassurance!

It suppose to be used outdoors or very well ventilated areas

To inhale this can be very dangerous

PoopingAllTheWay · 04/07/2024 02:58

Google it. It will tell you what to do and how dangerous it is

Kandalama · 04/07/2024 03:10

It can cause drowsiness and dizziness, is dangerous to aquatic life etc.

Tbh it’s really not a good idea to be breathing that stuff in and as a precaution is recommended for external use only.
If you can open the windows in the room it’s in. Pack up any gaps ie under the door for example.

Just do whatever you can to not breath it in and wash all clothes you wore whilst using it, don’t just throw the container in the bin it needs to be fully sealed etc etc etc .

Says it can cause lung damage / Pneumonia if inhaled

Kandalama · 04/07/2024 03:12

Yep.
Id be sleeping in the car

I'd not assume the worst side affects from a short and likely diluted exposure.
Come on ladies, be realistic and don't scare a worried mum!

Cal 111 if you are worried. You've done the right thing to open windows and seal off. Is the air fresh now? How is LOs breathing?

PoopingAllTheWay · 04/07/2024 03:23

Its not about scaring the lady, she asked, and we are telling her what the leaflet says for that specif product

Why would we lie?

IgoogledYOLO · 04/07/2024 03:29

There's honesty and there's applying common sense and knowledge to an SDS!
Cancer? FFS. That will come from long term exposure. Compare the WEL to the exposure detection value. You can smell this long before it's at the working exposure limit.

IgoogledYOLO · 04/07/2024 03:33

Reread, I saw lung disease and my sleep deprived brain changed that to cancer. My point stands, no need to Google and highlight every possible side affect. I'm sure the OP would have done that, it's practical support that is needed.

You need to ventilate the kitchen as well as the bedroom to get the fumes out. I might put a towel under both doors as well to stop fumes seeping out.
