Hello, I was wondering if anyone would like to help with a bit of interior design...?

We are getting close to completing on a property where the master bedroom is a recently completed loft conversion with ensuite.
The house is a period property with lots of original features but as with most conversions and extensions, this room lacks any personality/character and is presently a blank canvas.

The furniture we currently have will be coming with us so I need to work around that. I will post pics of the room as it is now, and pics of our furniture coming with us.
Despite the grey bed, I am not an all over grey fan. I don't mind it as a base and to incorporate a pop of colour - just not allllll grey and no diamanté/glitter/crushed velvet. We will be utilising one of the spare bedrooms as a dressing room and I am undecided yet if I want my dressing table and blush chair to be in my bedroom or the dressing room. Probably the bedroom as the dressing room will be on another floor and isn't great in terms of light.
I am quite traditional and love a bit of olde worlde cosy cottage, victorian/edwardian vibe but I am 100% open to new ideas.
Interested to see your suggestions - and thank you! xx

Edit to add - there is also a 3 drawer Ikea malm chest of drawers but it wouldn't allow me to upload this pic xx

I think as your furniture is quite modern looking it’ll be tricky to get the cosy cottage vibe. But, I’d be tempted to paint all the walls maybe a sage green colour, and then get patterned vintage style curtains and throws for the bed. Look for some old fashioned pictures as well?

Google bedrooms and find ideas you like. Or pick a colour or an object you love as your starting point. Then Google/Pinterest to build up the ideas.

If the bed is non negotiable then it’s a good starting point, and if so, can you reupholster to change the colour? That gives you a lot more freedom. If not then Google ideas for dark grey headboard. Pale pink looks good with grey for a cosier feel. Or go all white and accessorise with wood and plants. Maybe a wall of botanical wallpaper. Pick the colour of metals, mixing gold and silver is tricky so matching is an easier way to pull it together. Wall lamps for bedside tables and ceiling lamp will help and the window dressing and flooring (rug) too. Do it over time so you know how you use the room first.

When painting slanted ceilings only paint the flat bits white and the rest of the walls and slanted bit the same colour. This make the slanted wall less noticeable.

I think you need to create a bit more height visually. So I'd be going for either a higher headboard or a panel of some sort behind the bed.

Also, wouldn't have it too matchy matchy. Interesting bed linen might work - check out MM linen designs

Would you consider adding in patterns? If so, have a look on etsy and Pinterest for Cottagecore or Grandmillenial.

I'd probably put the bed under the window so you benefit from the breeze and reading light and hopefully won't be woken by morning sun. But it could be difficult with your headboard x

If it’s cottagey I’d be tempted to go with check curtains

Laura Ashley has quite a lot of cottage style wallpapers with grey tones in - if you Google Laura Ashley wallpapered bedrooms quite a few come up and quite a few of the images have a grey upholstered headboard. One of the good things about Laura Ashley is that they sell Farrow and Ball textured paints in colours to co-ordinate with their products as well as some bedlinen/cushions and lampshades. Whilst you wouldn't want all matchy matchy it can help to eg have a lampshade or two in a contrast colour that picks up on a minor colour in the wallpaper.
