We couldn't come to a decision on a kitchen wall colour, so went for this (blush pink) the cabinets are the grey you can see to the right, and the worktops are black sparkly as shown.. I'm not sure it "goes"
What's your opinion? Should I change or live with it?

It's a bit bland for my taste but some people like bland.

I dont hate it

Illpickthatup · 12/04/2024 13:07

It looks nice against the black but I don't think it goes with the grey. The grey and pink look a bit washed out together. Too much pastel.

I like the paint colour… don’t like the black, it seems very blunt

Giggorata · 12/04/2024 13:34

I don't love it either but it doesn't appeal much.
You actually have four different colours going on: the pink, the grey, the white and the black, which makes it less decisive, and dare I say it, less cohesive
(yes, I've been watching that programme 🙂)

I would lose one of the colours.
Easier to change are the pink or the white, because they're just paint.
If it was my choice, I would go darker and paint all the doors, rads, architraves, skirting boards etc, the same colour as the walls.

With grey and sparkly black, I would go aubergine or a deeper pink, maybe a not very intense aqua.

I had a similar quandary in my new kitchen earlier this year. I chose off white gloss units with a mid grey worktop with a slight sparkle. I knew white was not going to work for the walls but as I have gone off dark colours recently, I looked at a range of green paint colours. Initially I chose a very pale green, but my daughter in law, an interior designer for a large building company, said I should go for a much darker colour. I trust her judgement but chickened out of a dark olive green as it’s quite a large kitchen which gets little natural light. I finally went with sage green and have just ordered olive coloured blinds for the large window.

I love the finished room but agree with my DIL that I could have gone a shade darker but the sage green was more colour than in any other room in my house - totally white with colourful pictures and cushions etc.

I like pink colours but think that your kitchen could be a little darker pink, like dusky pink or blush, I’d avoid a rose pink as that reminds me of old ladies but something brighter would look good against the dark waorktops and lighter units.

This is a photo of my kitchen showing the more marked contrast. It actually looks darker in real life!

I think I’d go for a rich cream colour rather than a pink. Not very exciting maybe, but would be warm and classic.

JaninaDuszejko · 13/04/2024 14:48

Well I love the pink and think it goes well with the black and grey and a stronger colour wouldn't work as well, the suggestion of a purple or bright pink sounds dreadful to me. Everyone likes different things so you'll get different responses but a blush pink is pretty neutral. Agree that painting the woodwork (and ceiling) pink as well would be more fashionable but nobody in real life is going to walk into a pink, black, grey kitchen with white woodwork and think 'why did you do this colour combination?'.

I'd keep the pink, style it up and live with it for a bit. If you still hate it after a few months you can change it, it's just paint.

I have my loo in that colour and it works, it’s very warm but I don’t feel it’s a kitchen colour and I’m sorry I’m not a fan in that setting.

YorkshireKylie · 13/04/2024 15:22

@Ihateslugs I really like that colour and you've also got the white, black and grey in there like I do. What paint is it that you used?

It’s Crown Mellow Sage kitchen range as I wanted something I could wipe clean

Really? I'm old enough to remember the 80s and would say they were more floral wallpaper and farmhouse style kitchens. Either way, 40 years ago is long enough to be back in fashion whether that is pink as a neutral or the cottage core look.
