What colour would you go for?

It’s just a standard new build loo with window, big mirror and white sanitary ware.

I’m leaning towards a deep-ish dusky pink 🤔

Light Sage green, or taupe

If there was no texture/panelling on the walls - I'd create some.
I'd mask a dado line in rather than painting full walls.

Which colour would depend on the hall that led into it, the flooring, the colour of the taps etc, the mood I was trying to create and the light in the room. Loos always have a tendency to feel cold and unloved so I'd be aiming for a warm colour - but I'd want something dramatic too.
I painted our shower room (very narrow room with no features) Pompeian Ash on the bottom, limestone on the top - we were limited by the sage tiles and chrome hardware - which felt a little dated. It'll need some art work to add more warmth and interest but it's a improvement.

I'd tile to halfway up the wall (I have males in the house) with a large tile (I hate metro tiles ). Then I would have some crazy wallpaper.

Farrow and Ball's India Yellow.
Any room you use it in always looks like the sun is out.

Bakerfoot · 29/03/2024 09:52

Oh dear, it's never occurred to me to do anything except white 🤣 Mine needs doing, maybe I'll do something dramatic this time.

Definitelynotwhiye · 29/03/2024 09:56

Absolutely put colour in, white is just plain boring. I've got green in one, dark green walls and patterned green and white flooring tiles then my other downstairs is pink and grey/lilac. I always think you can experiment a bit in cloakrooms and bathrooms as they're a relatively small space

Waitingforgeorge · 29/03/2024 09:56

I panelled my downstairs loo last year - I chose panelling rather than tiles so I could easily change it when I felt the need. Had planned on wallpaper but the nooks and crannies made papering seamlessly very challenging - and I couldn't look at a bad job and instead opted for paint.

Waitingforgeorge · 29/03/2024 09:58

I think white can feel very cold in a cloakroom especially - I also think a room diffuser is important in the smallest room - it can feel so much more welcoming when it smells good.

Justkoko · 29/03/2024 10:01

Again I think you can go strong in a little room. We also went for patterned tiles and I think it was wickes pale olive, a lovely strong leafy green. I really like it.

PensivePeanuts · 29/03/2024 10:02

I’d love to do some panelling/wallpaper but the house is only 6 months old so I shouldn’t really!

I’m going to paint two small bedrooms this weekend and thought I may as well get some colour in the loo at the same time haha.

Colour, definitely, but nothing too dark. Pastel yellows, light blues, greens, pinks. Put in some feature tiles. Add a small newspaper rack for reading material Grin.

Dark green

Candleabra · 29/03/2024 10:03

Sage green

justforthisnow · 29/03/2024 10:03

I had white for years and years and then last year repainted in a teal kind of blue, called Mussel I think, and also panelled the lower half, which was the painted part, the top half is a very quirky teal and ivory wallpaper. It is hard to describe what a difference its made, it's not like it was the same room at all, its way nicer. Much more attractive.

QueSyrahSyrah · 29/03/2024 10:04

I love really strong shades in a tiny room, especially as you say there's a window to offset it with light.

I'd go for a dark jewel tone, deep raspberry pink, emerald green or aubergine.

UnimaginableWindBird · 29/03/2024 10:07

I've just painted mine in a combination of white and babouche yellow.

Waitingforgeorge · 29/03/2024 10:11

I would also colour-drench it.

custardlover · 29/03/2024 10:13

I did mine last weekend! Did 'Blood Orange' which is a very bright, rich orange - it feels like the golden hour in there all the time now. Apparently orange helps release dopamine so it's a warm, dopamine room now!

This. Actually strong dark colours work really we and better than wish washy hints of colours to try and make a room look brighter or bigger.

Colour all the way

Bingowingo1 · 29/03/2024 10:14

Black. Walls, woodwork, ceiling.

LoobyDop · 29/03/2024 10:28

Ours has large greige tiles half way up the walls (not put in by us), and we painted it a gorgeous metallic bronze. Would have been ridiculously expensive in a proper sized room, but I love it in there.

Cointreacoffee · 29/03/2024 10:44

Mine’s white but with bright prints in black frames that were inexpensive so I can change them easily. It changes the look without the faff.

User478 · 29/03/2024 10:48

I wouldn't paint, I'd go with: www.wallpaperdirect.com/products/osborne-little/cockatoos/80113

Sadly I'm not made of money.
