Does anyone have LVT flooring?

After a long, and I mean LONG, period of deliberation (largely as a result of husband being the most indecisive man in the world) we have compromised on LVT flooring. All decided until kitchen fitter sucked his teeth and told husband of things that had gone wrong with LVT in the past.

Husband is once again in a lather of indecision. He's off researching the subject, I'm asking MN. Does anyone have LVT in their home? Does it wear well? Any issues? Would you have it again?

We have it in kitchen fitted by builders (new build). Looks great, easy to clean and like new nearly 3 years on. Not sure what brand it is though.

Have it, love it. Looks and feels like real wood, quite textured. Ours in glued down and no groove gap like with laminate. Easy to lay as well, they can cut around door frames with a knife.

I had the it in my last flat…just straight up ordered it off the internet, it was v low cost.
8 years in it looked PERFECT basically new.
Super happy with it.

got lvt click flooring in my new house kitchen
diff brand and style, more expensive.
i stress tested the sample… loved it… so went ahead.
i hate it so much it is textured and dirt clings to it so it has to be manually scrubbed think on your knees with a tooth brush. Separate to that it has chipped in places and has had to be touched up. it was put down less than 2 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️

what I will say is I wasn’t sure about amtico at all… but my DH pushed for it. It’s gorgeous and looks perfect I wish it was in every room downstairs

in summary…it depends

I've had different brands of LVT in all the houses I've owned, Amtico Spacia (the stuff that gets glued down), Aquaplank and Moduleo, both of which were the click LVT. Have been happy with all of them.

I've always found it to be really hard wearing and practical, and like how it looks too.

clpsmum · 10/03/2024 22:38

I've got lkarndean throughout the downstairs and I love it

NostalgiaWarning · 10/03/2024 22:38

Yes this is the second home we’ve got it in, love it

Landlubber2019 · 10/03/2024 22:41

We had moduleo fitted based on the recommendation of our fitter. We were very specific in what we wanted, something that looked good, easy to clean and doesn't show up the marks and needs cleaning daily. We got exactly what we asked for and very happy with it?

BigBreaths · 10/03/2024 22:49

We have lvt in our basement. Looks brand new 5 years in. Ours is polyflor.

annonymousse · 10/03/2024 22:52

We have it throughout most of the ground floor. Only the lounge is carpeted. We've got dogs and it looks lovely and so easy to clean.

inappropriateraspberry · 10/03/2024 22:53

We have heavy duty LVT in our open plan kitchen/diner/lounge. It's great. You need a good fitter to lay it properly. You can't steam clean it, but I use a bissell crosswave which is great.
Ours is very textured, but have no problem keeping it clean. We also have underfloor heating and it works well.

Frightenedbunny · 10/03/2024 22:55

We have amtico in our kitchen. It’s been down 3 years and still looks new. It’s not cold underfoot like some laminates. I absolutely love it.

TheUsualChaos · 10/03/2024 22:59

We've got LVT click fit, DH fitted it himself. It's brilliant, 3 years old and still looks the same. No sun damage. Muddy dogs and children. Does scratch occasionally, usually if a bit of grit is caught and pushed along by hoover, but any scratches seem to just blend in.

Allsizes8to14 · 10/03/2024 23:01

We have it in bathrooms and all of downstairs and rate it highly. Feels nice underfoot, no evidence of wear and easy to clean. Ours is the stick down type, we recently had a plumbing problem and my husband just used my hairdryer to warm it and lifted the required pieces before re-laying. Never had karndean or amtico simply because they never had a colour that worked for us. We have mix of polyflor and lifestyle floors, polyflor has been perfect, lifestyle poss not quite as good but still been absolutely fine. Is our flooring type of choice though sometimes finding a fitter can be difficult

Me too. It's fab and wouldn't go back to the engineered wood I had before

MrsWimpy · 10/03/2024 23:09

We have Camaro and it's great. Coming up to 5 years old and looks as good as the day it went down.

DonttouchthatLarry · 10/03/2024 23:17

Yes we have Karndean in the lounge, hall, kitchen and our bedroom. We have dogs and it's been so much better than carpet. Would definitely have it again if we move.

Flozle · 11/03/2024 08:34

Thank you everyone 🙂

Yes we have Amtico through most of downstairs and the bathroom. Had it for a year and no problems whatsoever. It's the glue down sort.

It looks amazing, is very easy to clean. Mostly just sweep or wipe. Warm under foot (we have UFH but when it's off!). Not as lethal or slippery as tiles for slipping, falling (child) or dropping things and breaking them.

The fitter was obsessively diligent about having totally level screed to lay it on and this being perfectly dry before he laid it. This seems to be key to success!

We have little felt pads on the legs of furniture to prevent scratches and none so far. There were enough spares though that I imagine you could lift a piece and replace it if necessary.
