What floor with this aqua tile?

For our total bathroom reno, it took me forever to find a tile I liked and could afford. I've now chosen the aqua tile pictured here for a half wall that sticks out to cover plumbing.

The room will also have a white modern toilet and tub, and I'll use brass fixtures. The color of aqua is more like the photo with the mirror (in the other photo it looks a bit greyed out).

I haven't picked out a vanity/sink yet but I'm thinking of going with a freestanding unit in a natural pale oak. The look I'm going for is calm and fresh.

I'm completely flummoxed on the idea of a floor though -- any ideas on that, or a better idea for a vanity? I probably don't want a white vanity as we had one in our last flat and our small DC chipped the paint.

I love those tiles, laid the second way not in rounds.
What about a non slip vinyl floor in the same aqua?
Don't know about the vanity but light oak sounds nice, give a bit of warmth. I'd have blush pink towels as a contrast to the rest.

I would use a pale wood effect tile or laminate

OP, where did you get these tiles from ? They look really good.

I would go for a pale oak vinyl for floor, and then a darker turquoise unit. Or maybe a pastel coloured unit. Makes me think of 1950s, so I'd look to that era for inspiration.

Thanks all!

  • We probably won't use vinyl (because I don't like it) or a pale oak for the floor because the overall house floor that leads into this room is a chocolatey timber.
  • I was thinking tile or maybe a slate/stone in big rectangles because while I have champagne dreams, I'm on a prosecco budget and need to consider cost to install.
  • I love the picture you posted @Seaside3 -- I'm not going for an overly vintagey look though as I think they can look a little cute (in a bad way).
  • Stonehouse Studio is the tile -- looks to be an in-house brand of Victorian Plumbing as I haven't seen it elsewhere. A lot of modern, unfussy tiles that look like much more expensive brands.

An you not go with a dark floor if everywhere else is? Would look lovely with the aqua.

And I'd just use the vintage colourways as an place to jump.off from, as you said your stuck when it comes to a vanity.

Hope you find a good solution.

Not sure why, but the idea of a wood floor in the bathroom feels off. I suppose having the bathroom space feel different to the main living areas feels more natural to me, and I'd worry wood wouldn't react well to damp/spills (we have small DC, so bath time = splash time).
