Clothes storage on shelves - open wardrobe

pinksheepbeep · 12/01/2024 12:52

I bought an open wardrobe for DC but slightly underestimated how many clothes they have 🙈 Need to use the open shelves for clothes stage rather than a whimsical display of books and toys (per photo). Any suggestions/ideas in terms of how to do this so it still looks vaguely neat and attractive? I'm thinking boxes but not sure what kind would look best... Thanks!

Will Ikea ones fit in there? They have some nice basket style ones. Functional without looking too “functional” and also air circulates.

Baskets.
But... I'd be looking a culling some clothes. A whole wardrobe for1 child is child is quite a lot?

Thanks - baskets are a good idea. Could use for bulky items like jeans/jumpers etc. Will have to plan a trip to Ikea. But you're probably right @Seaside3 about the need for a cull...

Hope you mamage to cull some, the open shelves are cute and it seems a shame not to use them for display.

Really?!

@InWestPhiladelphia really to what?

Baskets? Yes.
1 fullllll wardrobe if clothes for 1 child? Yes.

Not sure why 1 person needs multiple wardrobes worth of clothing, but fair enough if you do. We are all different.

Display is a useless idea for a wardrobe. Get some baskets or fabric cubes. Jumpers soon fill up a wardrobe.

InWestPhiladelphia · 13/01/2024 11:42

I can't imagine a child having so few clothes that they don't fill a wardrobe, but yes we're all different.

Baskets - for things that don't need folding like underwear, hats, gloves etc.

Just saw some nice baskets in h & m and thought of this thread.

Thanks so much for sharing this!

I agree with the pp saying baskets are for small things, ideally things that don't need to folded or organised in the way the jeans and jumpers would, so socks, pants, etc. Drawers and hanging space for the rest

You're welcome @pinksheepbeep . If you get some nice baskets they're just as nice to display as books/toys I guess.
