I'm rubbish at decoration how best to deal with these tiles?

I want to decorate the bathroom. I'm crap at DIY so don't want to remove these tiles or replace the mirror...

How best to decorate the bathroom with them in situ? Could I go for a black and white them and just paint the tiles with ceramic paint?

Or is there a nice colour scheme where I can kind of 'lean on' to the blue and match the rest of the bathroom around it?

Any suggestions gratefully received, thanks.

I'd put white, chrome and wood everywhere.
And then add blue towels and accessories to match the mirror.

Do NOT paint the tiles. Work with them or replace them.

Patterned or plain Lino? I would decide on the Lino first and then plan the pain around it. Much easier to match paint to lino than the other way round. Do you have any examples of what you like? You can get a wood effect Lino which might be more forgiving of marks. Then I’d go for a warmer white colour.

Maybe off white walls with navy accessories?

christmaspawpaws · 30/12/2023 21:04

Honestly I wouldn't paint them, leave them as is and work around it
You could do shades of white, grey, blue, anything really for a clean look. I prefer personally darker for the floor in case of spills/stains and lighter on the walls
Example being you could go a white with a hint of blue for walls, dark for flooring and then match towels or accessories to the tiles to bring it in together

Bathroom suite is white (thank god).

This is all being done on a mega budget to make relative feel more comfortable about having visitors to the home.

Nothing fancy just functional and inoffensive.

You're being brilliant all, thank you, keep suggestions coming if you can.

You can get stick on tiles which is quite good value.

Torganer · 30/12/2023 21:06

I would go for a medium wood effect Lino. Light wheat coloured walls. Coral patterned towels.

Couple of pics. Blue is pretty easy, if they were brown or something I would paint them!

So something like this for inspiration. Maybe more of a white than wheat on reflection.

Stone colours walls?
or we have green/grey walls with some blue/grey flooring which looks nice, white suite, wooden mirror frame and a couple of hanging plants

Grout pens look terrible. It doesn't look like grout, it's invariably wonky and it has to be renewed.

I really wouldn't mess about with painting some tiles - the edges will be vulnerable to chipping/flaking/peeling when they're cleaned, it will be extremely difficult to do a neat job, and being next to unpainted tiles it will highlight that they've been painted even more than if all of them were painted.

Edited

I do like the second picture with the two tables.

I wouldn't paint the tiles - they are quite nice actually. I'd paint the walls a dark blue/navy blue - but would test a few colours to make sure it looked ok with the tiles. Then paint everything else - door etc white. My sister had a dark blue bathroom years ago and it was lovely. Lino could be neutral. Other option would be buttercup yellow walls and dark blue/navy lino.

Pallisers · 30/12/2023 21:44

oh that tiled lino effect is gorgeous - do that would dark blue walls and white trim.

I think navy, white and wood accessories.
PLEASE do not do yellow

Mrsgreen100 · 30/12/2023 21:54

Don’t go with yellow , it will make the blue look 1980’s dated
go soft white and wood effect Lino
more paint them off white

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 30/12/2023 23:48

I agree with you @Mrsgreen100
