Paint colour scheme advice for a dunce

After years of endless white, we're decorating our son's room and landing, stairs and halls throughout the house.

I've asked our decorator to colour match Farrow and Ball colours.

I want a dark blue for my son's room and the main wall of the landing, and a complementary white.

Does anyone have any recommendations? The white has to work throughout the rest of the stairs and landing (combination of oak wood flooring, dark grey carpet and light grey tiles).

Also - several arguments had about this with DH - do we paint the woodwork (wardrobe doors, skirting etc) in the same complementary white?

I have literally no eye for colour and really want to make this work!

Have you had a look on the F&B website? For all of their colours they have suggested complimentary colours which is really useful. For example, Stiffkey blue is a really nice navy, they suggest Wevet and Ammonite to go with it.

Regarding the matching the woodwork in - I've never been brave enough to do it, I think it's called colour drenching? It can look amazing, but I always chicken out and stick with white.

@Pootles34 Thank you so much, I've just discovered the samples option and was eyeing up stiffkey blue.

I'm just bamboozled about what colour to do the woodwork. We have a huge amount of built in storage so lots if doors that need painting.

I suppose it's easier if I do it all in the same white, than looking for another complementary white.

If you're picking f and b, I'd bite the bullet and buy it. To me, their paint is much nicer than the look alike, giving a better depth of colour. Overall, it's not that expensive in the coat of renovating a home etc.

I also recently bought graham and brown for the mdf paneling in my kitchen and I've got to say, it's good.
