Design dilemma

We are undertaking a full remodel of our house both inside and outside moving from a badly extended 1930s bungalow to modern house.
The architect has done a beautiful design and exterior I love.
Inside I am struggling with styling I hate the greys, creams and whites it just feels cold and drab to me. I like colour, but I don't want full on Sophie Robinson maximalist I need so inspiration that is somewhere in the middle. This our forever home so I don't need to worry about appealing to buyers.
My current lounge has a blue and mustard yellow theme which I love. This room will become a snug and I want to keep that furniture and build on the theme.
We will have a huge kitchen, dining, family room which long term will have an antique English oak table (4ft by 8ft in size) it is a family item that I adore. We will also have a substantial grandfather clock in our hall which is another family item. So I need what we do to work with some antique pieces.
I spend hours and the internet, but not yet found inspiration particularly in kitchens.
I just wondered if there are any other people out there who love colour and have ideas.

ideas on what?

escapethemaze · 14/12/2023 08:53

without seeing the pieces you refer to… difficult to comment

escapethemaze · 14/12/2023 08:53

antique is rather…. vague!

Sorry the table is English oak circ. probably early 1800s it was in my great great grand parents dining room. The grandfather clock is probably similar age.
I suppose I am looking for suggestipns of designers/ insta accounts whose designs style is colourful without being as full on as Sophie Robinson.
Terrified of having a beautiful house on the outside and messing up the inside.

Just start out with white walls, add your furniture and let it evolve? You don't have to have it all 'done' at once. You should live with a space first, see what the light does and how you use it. You have furniture you love - great. So you can try rugs / cushions etc. that can be changed if you change your mind. I think it's a mistake to feel that you get to decide this once and once only. Let yourself experiment.

I would look at Kit Kemp interior design, she uses a lot of colour and mixes in a lot of antiques in modern hotels. Look on Instagram or Pinterest. Or Readly is good, you can look at all the interiors mags.

Have a look on insta at Otta Design and Colour Interiors - these are interior designers who use a lot of colour but not in a full on maximalist way. If you follow these then insta will probably suggest some other similar ones. Do the same on Pinterest

@tinselvestsparklepants white or grey walls is what I specifically don't want.
@AcceptingTherapy and @minipie thank you those are exactly what I am looking for. Have followed those two they are both lovely.

Would help if you posted a photo of the current room that has the theme you want to build on.
