Has anyone got curtains on one side of bifold windows.

I have a 3m bifold door, but it is cold at that side of the room. I would like to add some curtains but could only have them on one side which wouldn't work with a central support. Has anyone got a way of doing this?.

I've got this problem OP; interested to see if there's a solution

TiptoeTess · 06/12/2023 17:48

Why can’t you have them on both sides? I’m struggling to visualise it so harder to think of options…

I have this situation and keep my curtains to one side. I have the c rings above and bought some tape stuff to go on the curtain pole to make it easier to move them across. That said I don’t close mine all the time. Only in the winter and only if we are spending lots of time in there.

I think you can get poles that don’t have a middle support but I didn’t investigate that 😊

I have integrated blinds that fit inside the frame of the window. They are amazing. Called perfectfit blinds or something like that from Blinds 2 go

We have these no central bit the curtain glides underneath. Our local curtain shop came out measured & fitted it to our bay window. It was quite pricey.

Thanks for the recomendations, I'll have a look at those c rings.

Any recomendations on what curtain headings to go for, I would have preferred eyelet ones, but obviously won't work with those c rings.

We have a sturdy tension pole at the top of our bifold door recess, then pull curtains to one side when open. It works much better than I thought it would & you can still open the doors without knocking it.

Revisiting this post as I'm freezing in my house and it can only be because of the bifolds. Love the idea of a tension rod but my bifolds are 4m, surely they won't take the weight of curtains? What curtains glhave you git and how big are your bifolds?

You could consider sliding panel blinds. They have a track and can all be slid to one side. This is the sort of thing but sure there are lots of others around.

Do you think they would be thermal?,we have blinds in the glass to block out the sun, just need something to stop the cold transferring through the glass.

Not sure about the width, but our bifold are 3 panels wide. We have lightweight thermal lined curtains which are quite effective.

Can I ask where you git them from?

Ceiling fix tracks are really good in these set ups - Silent Gliss do several, and you just order with a one sided stack. Wave heading works well on the curtains as it stacks really neatly. I'm in the trade and we've just done a 1 sided stack for a large set of bifolds.

If you see my photos I don't think we could do a ceiling fix track.

Amazon! I can only find the 260cm ones but I’m sure there were longer ones

Petrine · 05/03/2024 20:54

@Wizzadorra70 can I ask if you can have a separate thermal liner on wave curtains?

Wizzadorra70 · 05/03/2024 21:07

A Metropole with a one sided stack would work better, sorry OP I didn't see your photo originally.

@Petrine yes you can use a bonded liner or a thin to medium interliner with wave.... I've got interliner in all of my pairs. Gives them a nice body without being too heavy - but avoid the bump interliner as it's too thick.

babyboyHarrison · 05/03/2024 22:07

I don't know about those specific ones. It was intended as an example of the type of system. I would probably go to a curtain shop / interior designer and have a chat.
