Bedroom - too many patterns?

Hello wise people, can you help a bewildered home renovator to finish a project that’s been running for 3 flipping years?! We’re finally finishing off the master bedroom in a 1930s house, it has bay windows. Just decorating left to do, and curtains. I’m getting in a flap about patterns. We have a jade green fitted wardrobe along one wall, and a similar coloured radiator in the bay. Wondering about a green botanical wallpaper on the other main wall, behind the bed. And white on the walls & woodwork. But then what to do about duvet cover and curtains? I don’t want too many clashing patterns. Would I be better choosing a bold curtain and plain walls, and plain bedding? I am so utterly crap at this stuff, ideas very welcome. Thanks!

Jade Green wardrobes sound amazing.

Someone will be along shortly to tell you feature walls are so passe, but, if you like it, go for it.

Personally, I stuck to white bedding, goes with everything. Or a blanket to cover the bed works. Or white, with a blanket to compliment your paper.

I think it's OK to have pattern at the window too, if you want it. It's your room, go for it. Or, if you're afraid of too much pattern, look at a colour that works with green. Pink, purple, more green, yellow. There are loads of options, depending on how bold you want to go.

I'd be tempted to have the bedding and curtains plain, but moody. So a dark colour that complements the wallpaper (maybe black/navy/dark green) with some splashes of colour also in the wallpaper (so if it had hot pink flowers, for example, then I'd pick up on those for the throw pillows if you're having any).

I would always choose a plain non-pattern for curtains, as decent ones are expensive, and you then have the option of having patterns on your bedlinen, and rotating different duvets or covers, pillows etc, or changing a patterned wallpaper etc.

If you are going botanical on the walls then use a geometric design and a different scale but the same very tight colour palette in any other patterns. Or a plain colour with lots of texture. Green woodwork sounds fab.

Can I see a picture😍

I've never matched bedding to the rest of the room. I have 3 or 4 sets on rotation, massive variation in colours and patterns over the years and never bought any giving consideration to the walls and curtains.

Have a look at Charlotte Gaisford. She mixes loads of patterns and I think it looks fab. I’ve used one if her wallpapers in my bedroom, with a different pattern on the headboard and curtains. Plain white bedding with embroidery. Also have green fitted wardrobes , though more teal than jade.

I am both a lover of patterns and a lover of matching things. Years of trying to match patterned duvets to patterned curtains have led me to reluctantly choose plain curtains and walls in my bedroom. I have one wall painted olive green instead.

A jade wardrobe and radiator make quite a statement in themselves. I'd stick to cream walls, white paintwork, probably cream curtains with a texture. I'd keep the patterns for the bed.
