Not long moved into this house and let's just say the previous owner had some, ahem, different ideas on decorating. We've done the living room and bedrooms but what colour would u do this bathroom? The black and white tiles cannot be replaced as money is tight so looking for a temporary fix, I was thinking grey? Here's some pics to help (it's currently lilac). Thanks!

I would do it white. The tiles are quite dark so I'd do it nice and light to brighten the room up a bit.

Yellow or Lime green

HarrietStyles · 18/11/2023 19:25

White or very light grey

TrailingFig · 18/11/2023 19:28

Farrow and Ball Ammonite

Pebble shore by Dulux, it’ll tie the tiles in and if you get some crisp white towels and black accents such as mirror frame, loo roll holder etc it should bring it all together

Torganer · 18/11/2023 19:34

A light sage green

F&B Green Smoke

platinumplus · 18/11/2023 21:00

F&B Railings - it's a very dark grey

Chasingsquirrels · 18/11/2023 21:54

Well, I like the lilac BUT I've recently discovered the Dulex visualiser and wasted hours trying to pick new wall colours. Maybe worth a try.

SwedishEdith · 18/11/2023 22:01

Pale pink or a fresh green, something like Yeabridge Green (think that's the right name). In reality, I'd probably go for white until you can change the tiles. Not grey though.

Moveoverdarlin · 18/11/2023 22:04

Definitely white. The tiles are pretty awful, but a colour will make them look worse and colours like railings by farrow and ball will turn the room pitch black.

Bosca · 18/11/2023 22:08

I’d go with something deep and rich to try to face down the tiles. What aspect does the room have?

Renamed · 18/11/2023 22:08

A very pale, smoky grey, with maybe some art deco accents eg silver gilt mirror frame, some dark green somewhere

DelusionalBrilliance · 18/11/2023 22:10

Against the grain here but a really rich dark teal / sapphire? I dunno, I have no skill or experience in this area but I’ve typed my opinion out now so I’ll post it 🤣

witchypaws · 18/11/2023 22:12

They’re a bit full-on aren’t they? I think you need a proper colour to balance them out and stop them taking over- something like this…

I think you can't fight what's there. I'd go for a disciplined monochrome black and white scheme. So white walls with black mirror etc or black walls with white mirror etc.

Hippodogamus · 19/11/2023 09:23

Pale grey would calm them down a bit though.

Not suggesting these particular colours, just demonstrating the results you get on the Dulex Visualiser.

White especiallybif your bathroom is small. The tiles are too dark to paint grey.

Starfish125 · 19/11/2023 19:37

Wow thanks for all the replies everyone, the dulux visualiser is definitely gonna be a go to!

I second railings, or a dark colour. Not grey, unless v dark. Try them on your visualiser. White/light grey/light blue will look sterile. Any 'pop' of colour will look forced and altogether too jolly. (I'm not miserable, just prefer more subtle colours).
