I'm so fortunate that friends are letting their flat to me and my son! A god send. Immense gratitude. One has come a long way to oversee recarpeting, painting and also replaced curtains in 3 rooms. I said nothing but I am feeling a little torn. I've been so excited to decorate and the curtains in the living room are not neutral at all. They're like water colour flowers (snap from John Lewis below) -- never in a million years will they suit anything decor I had in mind. This hadn't crossed my mind before hand because where I've been living for years - you either have cream minblinds or vertical blinds or no window treatments at all. The bedroom curtains are medium dark brown and all hanging 3/4 of the way from ceiling.

I'I can pack them up in airtight bags and store them. I feel bad though. I think because she was so excited about them. And at the same time with a beige-y carpet and my blue/grey charcoal sofa - I can't even think of what I would prefer. I have very little decorating experience! lol
In my bedroom I can deal with the dark brown at least for now - but there's rings of fire around one window because of course there's a security light outside that's on all night. There's an semi transparent roller blind for privacy but lets light through. Any ideas on ways to block out more light?

I just moved back to the UK and brought only luggage so I am spending a lot on furniture. I have a beautiful woodframe (honey color) bed that is ridiculously comfortable!!! But wardrobes (on a budget) they're all white, grey particle board... (the desk I want to put in my bedroom is white... (how do I make it all match? I know first world problems. It's been a roller coaster of a year... and I can use all the help I can get!!
