Subtle green kitchen paint - Eddy/Mizzle

I'm looking for a barely there subtle green colour for our kitchen/dining room. The new kitchen is neutral, off-white with a wood worktop. Wood flooring.

I've always wanted a sage green kitchen so thought I could introduce this in the wall paint. It needs to be a warm green (not minty), but also be very light, as there is a lot of wall surface and I don't want the colour to be too noticeable/overwhelming.

I've ordered Eddy and Mizzle F&B samples so far. If you have experience with those, do you think they would fit the bill? Any other suggestions? (Cheaper options than F&B most welcome!) Many thanks!

Normandy Grey from Little Greene. It’s green, not grey, despite the name. Better quality than Farrow and Ball too.

Thank you I did have this one on my shortlist actually but discounted it as I thought it may be slightly too dark. It looks so beautiful but I'm not sure I can commit to having such a green room. Maybe I need to be bolder though!

We used Eddy on a fairly last-minute whim in our bedroom after finding that the Mizzle sample looked too dark.

It was colour-matched by our decorator so not sure how similar it is to the real thing but it's a really relaxing warm colour, not minty in the slightest. I love it in the bedroom and am planning sage-y green kitchen cabinets when we get to ours, and would be very happy if they were a similar shade.

We have Cromarty and I love it

Wallquestion159 · 11/10/2023 17:50

@user1488290202 interesting as DH is keen for the decorator to colour match to save money. Good to know it's turned out well for you!

Thanks @17to35 does it have yellow undertones? It looks like it does online, which I think may clash with our tiles.

No
I have it in N facing room
Subtle green/grey with a blue tone.

I ended up using F&B Hardwick White and French Grey in my kitchen when I couldn’t find the right shade of ‘green’. It’s all in the light with those colours.

Just painted my office Mizzle and it’s lovely. Very green though!

Wallquestion159 · 11/10/2023 18:22

Interesting @peachgreen as mizzle looked more on the grey side to me (especially compared to eddy). So maybe Eddy will be a bit much for me.

Do get a large sheet of lining paper and blutac it up to look at in the evenings as well as morning/afternoon.

Certainly far too green for you, but my Churlish Green F&B is very different under LED and halogen lights, compared to winter mornings and high summer.

Botanica · 11/10/2023 19:27

I have Eddy, Mizzle and Cromarty across different rooms in my house.

Mizzle and Cromarty are cooler, Cromarty being the closer to the barely there look you describe.

Eddy is paler but warmer than Mizzle, less grey, but wouldn't describe it as barely there.

If you're looking for something even paler maybe try one of the green tinged whites - James White for example.

Keep us posted on your choice!

peachgreen · 11/10/2023 22:06

Mizzle is definitely 100% green on my walls. Lovely shade though.

Wallquestion159 · 12/10/2023 07:35

@Botanica oh wow you've got them all! From your description it seems Eddy is what I am looking for but I'll just have to be a bit brave and embrace the green-ness! We've had magnolia for 10 years in there which isn't great but so neutral it seems weird to have colour now!

My samples are arriving today, I'm excited!

I'm pretty sold on Eddy! I think it goes well with our kitchen cupboard colour as well (pic). Mizzle is definitely too grey for what I'm looking for.

I can't help but keep browsing though and have found more options- any experience of Little Green Pearl? Or Tracery II?

Or Laura Ashley pistachio?

It's such a hard choice! It needs to go with the cupboards, the work top, the tiles, in a small dark room with not much sunlight (kitchen area), as well as a large room with plenty of sunlight (dining area).my head is spinning !

That’s crazy, Mizzle is SO much greener than that on my walls!

Colinswheels · 15/10/2023 16:17

Mizzle is quite strong sage green in my south facing spare room. It's beautiful but I wouldn't call it a subtle green. Have a look at James White, it's much more green than I thought it would be and a really beautiful colour.

Wallquestion159 · 15/10/2023 18:28

Really @Colinswheels and @peachgreen . It's so grey here I can only just about make out a slight green tinge. DH is keen for it to be a bit more neutral than Eddy so I think James White might be a good shout if I can't convince him
