Kitchen - which do you prefer?

Help! I appreciate I am not giving much context (e.g. how it matches with other parts of the house etc).

Leaving all these aside, which kitchen do you think looks better between these two (or which would age quicker?).

All opinions are welcome :)

The lighter one with light walls makes the space look bigger.

I normally like grey but the grey one makes it look smaller.

Cotton55 · 15/09/2023 19:36

I prefer the cream one. I think the other one is a bit too dark and makes the room seem smaller. Not mad on the flooring of the cream one though. What about 2 different colours for the bottom and top cabinets? Like sage green on the bottom and cream on top? Or a darkish blue on the bottom and lighter blue on top?

Are the floors meant to be different colours? I'd swap them and put the grey toned one with the grey cupboards and the yellow toned one with the cream.

Mixed tone cupboards look nice but will probably date it quite precisely to early-mid 2020s. But everything dates.

I prefer the dark one but I prefer dark decor overall anyway.

WaitingfortheTardis · 15/09/2023 19:42

I like the units in picture one and the flooring from picture two, for me they would look best together 😀

sleepyscientist · 15/09/2023 19:44

I like the grey one, we had a cream kitchen and found it marked really easily when cooking things like curries

Dreamstosell · 15/09/2023 19:47

I like the lighter coloured one with the flooring from the darker one. And personally would put some colour on the walls

Jillybloop393 · 15/09/2023 19:47

I think I'm going with the cream fan club - but also prefer the flooring from the darker kitchen. I think the cream one will look lovely with some colourful accessories, and won't go out of fashion as quickly as the dark one.

Cream one with different handles and a brighter floor.
I’ve just changed from dark to light.
Dark will age, light is classic.
Im biased tho, can’t bear grey, it’s like the black ash of the 80s.

CompaniesHouse · 15/09/2023 19:53

The dark one will date quicker.

the lighter one needs a different toned floor. I would also reconsider the handles - they’re not that nice in themselves anyway but also there’s a lot of handle relative to the doors if you see what I mean - there are six bar handles in the small section underneath the hob alone! Choose nicer handles and they don’t all have to be bars, some can be knobs. This cuts down on the heavy visual clutter.

MintJulia · 15/09/2023 19:55

Grey is going to date really quickly. Of the two, I'd go for the cream. It makes it look larger. I'd add some colour to cheer it up a bit.

Thank you all!

Grey one
the other one looks a bit wishy washy

HolaPepper · 15/09/2023 20:21

Second one. But lighter coloured cupboards.

Dislike the colour scheme of the 1st one. Too many beiges clashing.

I'm not a fan of those cupboard handles

SweetAndSourChick3n · 15/09/2023 20:22

I prefer the dark one as the other one is really dreary and boring

Bouledeneige · 19/10/2023 20:52

Although I often like dark kitchens I don't really like the colours in the dark one - the grey looks a bit cheap and doesn't seem to go with the black. Overall I prefer the look of the pale kitchen but maybe with brass hardware/handles. Agree about the flooring too.

Totalwasteofpaper · 19/10/2023 20:57

Cream but get different handles /knobs - those ones on the pic are awful.

Also different flooring. The grey wood is jarring with the cream

80sMum · 19/10/2023 21:01

I don't like the "battleship grey" one, I'm afraid. It's so dingy and dreary. The pale one is much nicer.

Also, everything seems to be grey at the moment, which means grey is very fashionable - and fashionable things do go out of fashion and then look dated. So I think the pale kitchen is probably more future proof than the dark grey one.

Jewelspun · 19/10/2023 21:07

The lighter one is lovely.

The dark one looks like a shared kitchen in a halfway house.
