Making way for a laundry room

I would like some advice and views on the following:

Whether to replace our family bathroom with a laundry room. This is located on the 1st floor. The current utility room with washing machine and dryer is downstairs next to the kitchen.

Would not having a main bathroom affect the house price?

we currently have 4 bedrooms each with an en-suite, a bathroom downstairs and a main bathroom.

Any experience with this is appreciated.

You have enough bathrooms - in this situation a dedicated laundry room will not devalue to house in my opinion

I agree @chopc. You have 6 bathrooms in a 4 bedroom house. How big is the utility? I’m presuming small if you are thinking about moving it?

Most families I think would prefer a good sized laundry room with place to dry clothes. 1st floor also means more chance the clothes end up directly in laundry rather then lying around some kids room for weeks.

Are there any baths in the en suites?

There is a bath in the master en-suite.
The rest are showers.

So there’s a bath (for babies and young children), by about 7 they will use the showers in their bedrooms.

You only need one bath in the house.

In a lot of countries an upstairs laundry room is standard (or it’s in the main bathroom).

I think in a house with all en suite and a downstairs bathroom you can get rid of the current main bathroom. However I'd never have a laundry room upstairs because I'd not want to carry heavy wet laundry downstairs to hang it outside.
