Have a look at this - is the grey on this paper a warm grey, do you think? Or a cool one?

I'm trying to find a grey emulsion to go with it. I've tried Dulux Rock Salt which was way too light. Misty Mountain also Dulux was too dark and cold.

I'm driving myself mad looking at different greys - i want it to be warm, because there's a lot of white in the room and i'd hate a cold effect. (bedroom)

I know everyone will see this differently on their screens, so if it's any help the paper is Laura Ashley Little Vines in Steel. LA actually do a ''steel'' paint but it looks a bit dark to me. When this paper is on the wall the grey and the white sort of blend together to make a pale grey effect.

What do you think of Dulux Chic Shadow? I'll put a pic of that too.
I've been looking at Polished Pebble but i think it's too cold and pale.
Help! 😳

Other people's opinions are going to depend on how their screen is calibrated, though - mine are all set to a warmer hue so that's what it looks like to me.

Make it your mission to get rid of everything grey in your home, it is drab, dull and is going out of fashion very rapidly. Think outside the box, unless you live in Essex, where the entire county love grey crushed velvet and matchy matchy grey everywhere, oh and a mirrored finish 🙁

Yeah .... sigh.

OK, so would a group of you all like to come with me back for the 100th time to B&Q tomorrow instead 😅

I don't have any other grey in the house. It's all quite Farrow and Ball sludgy period colours as it's a Georgian house. With lots of white paintwork, big skirting boards ect.

The bedroom in question has eaves and 2 of the walls are very short. One of them (behind the bed) has this paper on it and i love it. The furniture in there is all white and the curtains are white. I fancied copying the grey 😃

@Nitgel ooh. Is it a sort of medium grey? Not too light or dark?

It's just that i'm finding that the swatches and colour cards and even the testers don't give a real idea of the colour, y'know?

i think the chic shadow images on google are very true to how it looks in rl. I like my hall this colour as it makes the photos and prints 'pop' as they say. It's a good grey and has worn very well. I find it goes well with white.

I too am not a fan of the grey everywhere look but like everything it's how you use it.

my bedroom is matt gold lol

I have Chic Shadow in my front room - it gets a lot of sunlight so I wanted a cool grey to temper that. I think it looks lovely. Would match well with the paper I reckon.

I have chic shadow and it’s a “proper” grey. It’s not blue grey, or brown grey. It’s grey grey at least in my house. My house is very sunny and it’s helped tone it down. I really like it. I tried polished pebble too and that’s a lovely grey/white it was just too light for me.

Homebase stocks Laura Ashley Paint. They have 'Steel' as their own paint colour. Back in the 90s when I did up my first apartment I had Laura Ashley wallpaper and matching Laura Ashley paint and it worked well together. I still try and buy wallpaper and paint from the same brand if possible to get a good match (e.g. Warner House, Sanderson, Little Greene).

You could get a taster point and paint 3 layers onto A5 paper or wood, and have it colour matched in Dulux (Homebase) or Valspar (B&Q).
