Wood effect bathroom flooring

I'm really wanting the appearance of a wooden bathroom floor, does anyone have experience or opinion on wood effect tiles, or something like Karndean? We have Karndean in the kitchen and I'm very happy with it, but is it suitable for bathrooms?

We have wood effect tile in our kitchen diner. I reckon it would work perfectly well in the bathroom as it is just tile in the end of the day.
In my very limited experience wood effect tile is very much "you get what you pay for". We went mid range porcelain tile (70ish per sqm) but there were some beautiful options at double the price. There's a difference between ceramic and porcelain tile by the way. As far as I understand ceramic is generally cheaper and less durable.

As long as it has zero absorbancy - pee spills from toddlers etc.

Thanks very much. We might be able to go "high end" because it's such a small area to cover! 🤞

We have ceramic wood effect tiles in our bathroom. They cost around £55/sq.m (but that was almost three years ago) and I'd say they wood effect is pretty good, they even have a slight texture imitating the grain wood. Sourced from an independent local tile supplier.

We fitted porcelain wood effect tiles in the ensuite bathroom at a previous house back in 2010. They were expensive at the time but were convincing (with textured wood grain effect) and matched well with the old oak flooring in our period property, as well as being very durable.

At the house before that we installed wood effect Karndean in the main bathroom. It looked lovely and stood up well to daily use in a room with lots of water flying around, but I was always irritated by how dusty it seemed to get.

Otoh, we have wood effect Karndean on the landing of our current house and have had no issues with dust...or scratching by our two (now sadly one) dogs.

Yeah, we have just put down wood effect LVT from a bathroom range.
It was that or tiles as the 2 options in the bathroom shop.

We had wood effect porcelain tiles put in our rental property's bathroom. They are long plank shaped and look fairly real. They are immaculate. We put one on the lowest part of a niche in the bathroom and this looks great. Also it's matt and darkish, compared to the shiny wall tiles.

We've just installed LVT in our downstairs loo. I went into a local flooring shop and compared their range of vinyls - no contest with the one I chose - it looked so much better than Kardean and Amtico. Go and have a look somewhere they have a big range and compare the products side by side. By the fitter hated this stuff - but he did a great job and it looks fabulous. https://www.uddo.co.uk/product/yukon-mistral/

We've had ours in our bathroom for 8 years now and it still looks amazing. Never had an issue with it. Totally waterproof despite two messy kids!

We’ve got them in all ur bathroom. I have to admit I’m slightly disappointed by them- I’ve seen better, more realistic-looking ones, but we were limited to our fitter’s preferred supplier. They aren’t bad, but I wish I’d argued and insisted on buying them myself. The best ones I’ve seen have lots of variation in texture, rather than colour.

Look at Quick Step vinyl flooring. A lovely range of colours.

We have Karndean in bathroom and kitchen, it’s been down over 20 years and still looks good. My DH is a bathroom fitter and has put down Karndean in loads of his installations.

Could he come and fit mine!? 😊 Having a nightmare getting someone, the whole thing is such an overwhelming series of choices - when did so many different types of toilet and basin appear???? And don't get me started on taps....

Another here who has vinyl wood effect in kitchen and bathroom.

Laid before I moved in ( new build) in 2007. Still in great condition and looks so clean still. Very easy to run a hoover over and mop too!

@Pamspeople Sorry he’s retired now.

LVT (Karndean/Amtico etc) is a win, win. Totally appropriate for bathrooms, looks like wood. Not cold under foot like tiles
