Can I paint these? (photos included)

Not long moved in and in my bedroom is wall to wall MDF storage. I am more of a cottage-core gal, and these don't really fit in with me.
I will keep the fitted wardrobes as they are very useful and I don't have money for replacements - but can I paint them? They are huge.
My other furniture is light oak, the walls will be cream, the curtains floral - not everyone's cup of tea but definitely mine.
All and any suggestions welcome.

Yes, but preparation is all. You need to clean the surfaces very thorough, and then use an appropriate primer.

Actually, it’s less faff to cover them ! Fabric can look good, but wallpaper will stick fine with PVA. I’ve done this and it works fine, especially if you can discipline yourself to use the handles.

Don’t lose the screws when you take the handles off. Put them in a Box or an envelope.

Wallpaper? I didn't think of that - might be worth investigating. Thanks

Clean them thoroughly. Use a primer, then paint over them.

Use frenchic paint or ask a company for a quote to spray paint them. Just had my kitchen and windows re sprayed and they look brand new.

You can always update handles etc if you want to aswell by filling the original holes

Is this wood/furniture paint?

Another option might be to put curtains over them. Maybe ones on swing arms.

If you use a primer, use satinwood over it.
If you don't use a primer, you can use mdf/furniture paint.
Not sure what result you'd get with emulsion, but I'd treat it the same as chalk paint

So helpful, thank you all

go to a specialist decorating supplier and show them photos

I painted mdf plain, not veneered like yours with a special mdf primer, then used an oil based eggshell applied with a roller.
