That's definitely more cohesive....but what's lacking now - imho - are pattern and texture.
I'm probably not the best person to be commenting as my style is extremely bohemian and eclectic. Despite a design background, I recently took an absolute age to reach the right decision on cushions for our newly completed living room.
What I eventually chose - after trialling many different options - is the type of thing others are steering you away from...a riot of seemingly mismatched colours!
Usually I would follow (and give) the advice to have a 'hero' fabric and take the colours for cushions, throws etc from that, but we don't have curtains at the sitting end of our room. I instead took inspiration from the antique Persian rug, the other contemporary rug and the wallpaper we have at the opposite (dining/reading) end. This, coupled with the F&B Olive walls, meant that the colours I could choose from/play with were numerous - olive, hot pink, teal, aubergine, orange, cream, black and gold! Sounds awful, but we're delighted with how it's turned out.
Our cushions - a mix of everything from homemade, Zara Home, Timorous Beasties, William Morris and Anke Drechsel - are an assortment of shapes, sizes and textures too. Some of those I didn't make were picked up preloved on ebay or from Homesense/TK.
Whilst it's so easy to get a cohesive look by buying everything in one place, I actually prefer picking up stuff I love as and when I stumble upon it, but having looked at Dunelm's cushions today they do have a great - not to mention inexpensive! - choice.
If you love something - such as the kingfisher cushion which I think is lovely - I'd be trying to make it work somehow in your room. Either way, pattern needs including somewhere apart from art, imho.
Good luck and have fun - interiors should be a pleasurable experience, but I know often it doesn't feel that way!
