New Kitchen worktop/sink query, which do you prefer?

We have 2 options when getting new kitchen.
2 separate bowls, 2 cutouts, so there is continuation of worktop between the bowls.
Or 1 bowl, 1 cutout, so there is no worktop 'ridge' between both.
Feel like 2 cutouts would look good, but not sure how functional it would be.
I've selected the 2 cutouts, but now 2nd guessing myself, and wondering if I should contact the kitchen guy and get it changed to a single cutout.
Appreciate any thoughts!

I like the choice you made. Two cutouts looks great and I don’t think there would be any functionality problems.

2 cut ours look nicer. Do you have hard water? If so, your black worktop could get water stains, especially between the 2 cutouts. Just be religious about wiping dry.

I had two cut outs because I thought it looked better and black worktops with hard water. Never again! My new kitchen has a double bowl with one cutout and white worktops, we’ve installed a water softer.

Hi, the water is classed as "Slightly Hard" - but the worktops are white, so maybe water stains wont be such an issue? I've no idea as its the 1st time I've had solid worktops! Last minute jitters, just want to make sure I dont end up regretting one or the other :)

I have two cutouts, whitish worktop and slightly hard water.
I spend my life mopping up water on the bit between the two sinks.

Limescale isn’t too much of an issue though, I occasionally use limescale remover (even though it is not advertised for my quartz worktop). I just don’t leave it on for long, it gets rid of the yellow tinge from the limescale.

London based.
white quartz.
I have one cut out no issues with water staining on quartz.
Do however check sink bowl sizes. Both of mine are a bit small tbh and I struggle to wash oven trays so often run dishwasher just to do them which is £££.

One cut out.

The small piece of worktop in-between might get chipped and will certainly have a very hard life. More worktop to wipe too.

One cut out all the way.

You will drip between the two and it won't run off in a useful way, it'll spread and run onto your clothes before you know it.

You also can't leave the tap running alternating between the two bowls - eg, you have washing up bowl with all your dirty stuff in but the water takes a moment to heat up- you want to be able to run it in the small bowl while it gets to temperature rather than filling the washing up bowl with cold water, then just push it round when ready.

Aesthetics wise the two holes look marginally nicer, but the whole undermounted sink is still a lovely, 'luxury' look in the first place, so I would personally definitely go with the one cut out.
