Colour drenching

I'm keen to try colour drenching in a small vestibule between kitchen and bathroom in my flat. I really like the look, but I'm confused....do you literally use the same paint for all surfaces or am I supposed to find a colour matched gloss for woodwork?

Anyone done this?

Thanks 😊

F&B advertises a paint (dead flat) that you can supposedly use on plaster, woodwork and metal. If you go for a normal emulsion for your walls, you would need to get a separate paint for wood/metal. I would go for a lower sheen, to achieve the drench effect, so a low sheen egg shell rather than gloss.

Atelier Ellis also has a matt woodwork paint. But yeah, if you’re doing Dulux or whatever you’d get the emulsion for walls and satin or eggshell for woodwork all colour matched. Gloss would stand out I think.

Can recommend Brewers - you choose the colour and they mix up the type you want - satin, eggshell, gloss, bathroom etc - really nice paint to work with and great colours with good pigment.

We've done colour drenching in a few rooms using Little Greene intelligent eggshell on the woodwork. It's fabulous to use - far better imho than Farrow & Ball which we've used elsewhere (and in several previous houses) - although we did resort to F&B for the walls, panelling and skirting in our living room because I love their Olive (archive) paint.

I am a fan of Little Greene paints.

FYI, if you can find the RAL code of other paints you like, LG will mix them for you in some of their finishes (though not in their undercoat/primer, they’ll recommend a suitable one from their range). You can’t order it online, you need to phone or email them.

Just thought this might be helpful if you have any upcoming projects as I was a happy bunny to find out I could get a particular colour that had been used on a door in my place.
