Colours for bespoke fitted wardrobes

I am having bespoke fitted wardrobes made for my dressing room in our bedroom. A whole wall of them that look like panelling and will have no handles (a press catch instead) so they don't look like furniture but literally a panelled wall

I have to choose a paint colour that they will be painted with (just outside- the insides are solid oak cupboards, drawers and shelves and will be clear lacquered). DH thinks some shade of white. I am tempted by a dusty pink but think a white is probably more sensible in terms of room decoration, soft furnishings etc. The other alternative is a more dramatic colour but that could be very limiting in a couple of years. They aren't cheap and it would cost a lot to keep having them re-painted and the paint is supposed to be guaranteed to last 10 years without fading or becoming marked - could be chipped but won't become grubby.

What would you do?

The pinks I am thinking are Little Greene 'Light Peachblossom' or 'Dorchester' which are soft dusty pinks and could go with white, blues, greens, beige/caramels.

I have no confidence in my colour choosing ability and could be making a big mistake and should go fit some kind of white.

Part of me

I'd do white and have an amazing colour/stunning wallpaper on the walls. Much easier to change.

Why not have lacquered oak?

Toddlerteaplease · 09/06/2023 12:15

I had plain white so it won't date.

It's true that lacquered oak would show less fingermarks.

And you said it was press to open.

Why not have lacquered oak?

The inside is lacquered oak but the outside is a painted finish- I don't want a wooden look on the outside. It's a tough finish.

I know white is very flexible - just doesn't excite me the way dusty pink does.

Sulking Room Pink or Cinder Rose. Both F&B.

I’d have pink

I currently have these blue wardrobes saved as inspiration for when we finally get round to redecorating our bedroom so I say choose your favourite colour and go for that. Look in your wardrobe for inspiration?

Oh, here's some good pink wardrobe inspiration as well.

My previous bedroom fitted wardrobes were F&B Hague Blue and I've just had some fitted wardrobes put in that are F&B Setting Plaster. I say go for a colour you love. You can always have them professionally resprayed if you change your colour scheme
