Need some guidance as just rubbish at decisions.

Need to freshen up house to sell as walls are very tired. What neutral warm colour would you recommend for most of a house? House is 1930's with picture rails and east/west facing. Very light as huge bay windows.

DD's room is F&B Wimborne white which I love but not sure it's right for rest of house...maybe a light beige...just don't want grey.

Any recommendations before I spend a fortune on tester pots....

Natural Hessian Dulux

LemonjeIIo · 03/06/2023 17:23

@Move2023 @MrsPelligrinoPetrichor Natural Hessian Dulux is far too dark!

Try Ammonite which is a Farrow and Ball colour, but get it made up at Johnson's trade paint. It's a beautiful pale greige and I have it through out my house. Always complimented

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 03/06/2023 17:39

Too dark? It's a barely there colour.

TUCKINGFYP0 · 03/06/2023 17:41

I agree with @LemonjeIIo . Or go one shade darker and get Skimming Stone.

tatteddear · 03/06/2023 17:43

Mindful by Coat Paints

Or Pebble Shore Dulux (not to be confused with Polished Pebble which is darker

Look at Johnstone’s China Clay- I usually get it colour matched in an Armstead trade paint

SleepingisanArt · 03/06/2023 17:44

Our whole house is white.... Each room has accents of colour, rugs, upholstered bedframes, sofa, cushions, curtains etc. It's a really good starting place for redecorating as buyers will know they can cover it (if they want) very easily.

Beige makes me think of my parents very dated bland decor. Grey is a bit marmite as some people love it and some of us don't!

Watching with interest as just finished renovating a derelict 1930's property. I was thinking of a very light green, but taking inspiration from this thread.

Dulux Jasmine White is my go to for this.

gingercat02 · 03/06/2023 18:01

We have Dulux Egyptian Cotton on most of our downstairs, with accent colours. It's nicely neutral

quoteoutofcontext · 03/06/2023 18:15

Dulux almond white. It's not too dark or creamy but definitely a warm white. I've done all our downstairs in this and love it.

Pushpull · 03/06/2023 18:18

Lots of housebuilders use almond white by Dulux. We have it throughout the ground floor and it works well (still deciding on some of the rooms). I have Egyptian cotton in a bedroom and while I love it I think it sits much closer to biege/cream so if someone is in love with grey shades it won't work as well I don't think

Mine too.

Copy of F&B schoolhouse white or shadow white.

CatsOnTheChair · 03/06/2023 21:44

I'm looking for "just off whites" right now too.
So, this mornings activity was painting squares of almond and natural hessian...
Since they have both been mentioned, thought my handiwork might be of use.....

The almond white is only just "not white". The hessian is very definitely a colour. Think I want something between the two but not on the greige side....

Rustoleum steamed milk? It's a warm off white, less grey tones.

Christmascracker0 · 03/06/2023 21:59

Timeless from Dulux is good everywhere.

neverenoughchelseaboots · 03/06/2023 21:59

@CatsOnTheChair I’ve just done six samples of white and went with Sail White by crown. All the others seemed too pink or too green.

Muddypaws20 · 04/06/2023 07:53

Dulux Timeless here too, we have it in each room.

Again, far far too dark. Sorry but I have tried and tested ALL these and have the pots to prove it

BlameItOnTheGoose · 04/06/2023 09:27

Wimborne White for ceilings and trim
Schoolhouse White for all walls

Gustavo1 · 04/06/2023 09:31

Dulux summer linen/timeless are both lovely, neutral colours which I find warmer than white :)

Bovrilla · 04/06/2023 09:31

Timeless is a true neutral as it goes equally well with cool or warm shades so I'd say for versatility, then that's a good move

Mxflamingnoravera · 04/06/2023 11:21

Another vote for timeless, it's on my hall, landing and stairs and it'll be redone soon, in timeless again.

I'm a lover of sail white. Twenty years in and 3 houses!
