Anyone had a vinyl wrap on their kitchen?

I had a new kitchen in 2008. It's high gloss cream and I still like it and the handles. I've had the splash back re-tiled to bring it more up to date. I have a granite worktop which is brown and I no longer like it but it cost a lot and is of course very durable.
The cream surface is cracking now and I wondered whether a vinyl wrap would just bring it back to life? Would the fitter just wrap it over the existing cupboard surface? Or take it off?
Any advice appreciated.

You can do it yourself, I did my worktops a few years ago.
The surface needs to be very very clean , > washing up liquid > sugar soap> alcohol based cleaner. Remove all fixtures.

Take your time make sure its perfectly straight to start with.

I bought mine from Wilkinson It cost about £40 in total

It may not be perfect but it will give you a idea of how much of change doing it will make.

Mine lasted 2 years, just go very carefully with hot pans !

I don't think I would be able to do it myself but very impressed you did it!!

Honestly it's not that difficult, the rolls are ( or were) about £5 so if you mess up it's not a expensive mistake.
Going round corners are a bit fiddly so I practised a few times with wide sellotape to figure out the best folds

i had my kitchen doors replaced and the cabinets recovered. It had all got very shabby but the carcasses were sound and I liked the layout and the granite work surface. I am very pleased with the result and it was much less disruptive and costly than a new kitchen.

@MrsWobble3 this is what I am thinking of - it's not something I can undertake myself and all respect to @ScottBakula but it's the interfaces and plinths etc. would you recommend the company you used?

Would it be cheeky to ask approximately how much it cost?

I did, I've got high gloss and paid some woman on facebook £400 to take 16 cupboard and 8 drawers away, she wrapped them and brought them back. They look great

I did have to remove all the handles myself and put the doors back on but it didnt take that long

I’ve just had all the vinyl removed from my kitchen doors and then had the whole kitchen sprayed. I have 31 doors and drawers, cost £2200. Glad to get rid of the vinyl wrap as it was all peeling away.

Wow @Cheesecake4242 those tall cupboards look phenomenal!

My problem is that the cupboards originally were MFI with a high gloss finish and the surrounds all have that too. It's lasted 15 years and I've been pleased with it but I can imagine when the existing cover is stripped away the doors wouldn't be of a quality that spraying would work.

So I need to replace the doors or get them covered in something.

Perhaps you could cut some of the vinyl away on the inside of a door to see what is underneath?

I've also had a brilliant result with a sprayed kitchen. It was a solid but extremely dated galley-type kitchen, cost £1500 to spray and done in situ in a few hours by a company I saw recommended on here - they work nationwide if you don't mind waiting til they have two or three jobs in your area. Worth enquiring what they would recommend for you. PM me if you want details.

Sorry for late reply - we used Dream Doors which is I think a franchise operation. I can’t remember exactly how much it cost but think it was around £7k so not particularly cheap. But it does now look like a new kitchen - the new doors, panels, plinths and drawers were properly fitted by a kitchen fitter - I think it took the best part of a week. I’d recommend the branch we used (SE London)but can’t speak for other branches.

I wouldn’t worry about the state of doors, you pay the sprayers to remove the vinyl and sand them to a smooth finish.
