Zoning a room

Hi,

Would anyone have any ideas on how to decorate this room (picture attached) to create the feeling of two rooms.

Floor will be Oak Laminate in both.

I am thinking of using Dulux Chic Shadow in the front room (with the bay window) with white ceiling and skirting boards. It gets a fair amount of light through the bay window.

I guess I could do the square arch in something like denim blue or white to create an archway? As you can see I have no idea.

With the room in the rear, which has a lot less light, I could do the whole room in Goose down. The rear lounge gets a lot less light (just some through the front and glass door out of picture).

Its a bit boring using shades of grey but am not feeling that brave, as the house maybe up for sale

thanks

I have a similar room. It's all painted white but I've zoned it by putting the TV and unit in the middle but to one side, almost as a divider as well as a large plant next to it. I had it by the window like yours before.

I have a wooden floor and have used rugs to section out areas too as well as having artwork in one end and mirrors in the window end to throw light around.

Or I can use the darker goose down in the back with the lighter chic shadow in the front?

The other option would be to have the rear in a deep blue of some sort in the rear room

What's the purpose of the room with the chess-table-for-two that makes it distinct from the room with the tv?

The colour is going to be less of a guide to interpreting the two areas as different rooms than the implied use that furniture and the arrangement of furniture will make. Put a dining table in the inner room and it will automatically look functionally different to the tv and sofa area.

The tv in front of the window doesn't seem right.

The goose down seems drab and grey.
I wouldn't go dark blue.

I'd rearrange the seating because i'd move the telly.
The back of the room would look good if there was a more obvious purpose to it - games area/dining room/playroom?

Why do you wish to zone it into two rooms, what will the purpose of the back room be. For me it’s too small and all one room so should be decorated as such, but if you need two purposes then that’s different,

Sorry I should have been clearer. Room is empty and I want to use the front as lounge and the rear as a diner.

Maybe I will stick to the single colour and have the square arch in white or something.

If it's a dining area, go for a contrast. I'd go a little darker and warmer.
