Bathroom Storage

A bit of idle musing for a Sunday afternoon...

Would you take out a bath to add extra storage?

It's a four bedroom house. There is a family bathroom with bath and small separate shower cubicle. The master bedroom has an en suite that has both a large shower cubicle and a bath that fills an alcove area. I'm toying with the idea of replacing the bath in the en suite with a large cupboard or a combination of shelves/cupboard for linen storage. The second bedroom also has an en suite shower room.

As a family we don't use either bath very often but I'm considering future resale value.

I'd love a master en-suite with a bath - so would be biased! Our master en-suite doesn't have one, neither do the other en-suites, our only one is the family bathroom. I'd love a bath in my en-suite to have luxurious bubble baths!

Is the bathroom desperately in need of that much extra storage? No alternative of other clever storage ideas? We have our linens in our water tank cupboard (bloody huge thing!) on shelves we had built in by a carpenter.

If you don't use it very much it would make sense to make the space work for you though, and if you leave all of the plumbing in place (but shut off etc) then it would cost a future owner huge amounts to reinstall perhaps.

I would personally, as you don’t use either bath much. I don’t personally look for two baths in a home but not sure if that’s unusual.

Is there anywhere else you could incorporate storage? Is it just for linen?

Thanks everyone. It's interesting to see that even in a couple of answers there isn't any consensus.

Our airing cupboard is a huge affair with double doors and houses a big water tank and a smaller overflow tank but doesn't have any shelves. I need to speak to a carpenter to get quotes for having shelves fitted before going for the nuclear option of taking a bath out. The configuration of the tanks means he's going to need to be pretty creative. Currently linens are stored in ottomans or under bed storage and it's a pain in the neck rummaging round, taking everything out to find a clean towel or whatever.
