Spare bedroom layout

Just looking for opinions. Our spare room is rectangular with window at end, so longer than is wide
We want to have a standard double in the room to be used for guests. We can put the bed under the window with space either side to get out both sides (not possible at the other end of room due to doorway). Is head end being under the window an issue? This set up means other bedroom furniture will be either side at the other end, making me feel it will be a bit of a corridor

Alternatively, we can put the bed width wise, but it will fill the width of the room, with no space to get past the bottom of the bed, so you will have to climb over the bed to get to the other side to draw curtains or if two people sleep in it, one would have to climb over the other to get out. It would though be easier to configure the rest of the room, chest of drawers, wardrobe etc

Which option would be nicer for guests?

Thanks

The first option I think is best, working with what you have it’s always better to be able to walk around the bed and not climb over!

Under the window if you'd have to climb over it the other way.

Does under the window block the radiator?

Thanks radiator is not under window, it is at other end of room

Access to both sides of the bed as a preference.

I'm having literally this exact same dilemma at the moment! Mine needs to be a guest room and home office, so I'm erring towards option B. Will be a bit more of a pain for guests, but I figure I'll be using it to work in more often than I have people to stay, so want to make the most of the rest of the space. My radiator is under the window though, which would make option A more difficult.

A couple of possibly rubbish suggestions
Could you move the doorway to the long wall to improve the layout of the room? It’s something I had to do once to get a double into a smallish bedroom.
Rather than have a double get two singles with a bedside table or small chest of drawers under the window between them so it’s easier to get to the window curtains.

But of the two you suggest option 1 is better.

Thanks everyone , we have put it under the window and it is better than I thought
