Putting a wooden floor in kitchen?

Has anyone put a wooden floor in their kitchen? Is it durable? Would you use wood, engineered wood or high quality laminate/vinyl?

would be looking for something that won’t stain or get damaged? Our current kitchen tiles have cracked in several places.

No idea about wood but don’t use laminate. If you have a leak, splash a lot at the sink or drop a large amount of water some time, it will go under the planks and warp it. Ours was here when we moved it, it looked lovely until it lifted.

We put in solid oak planks and varnished them. Looks fantastic and easy to hoover and damp mop. You can’t let it get soaking wet but if you clear up spills straightaway it’s fine.

Hi, I recommend vinyl click flooring which is waterproof, hardwearing and looks great. We had our entire bottom floor done in it and it's the best flooring we've used.

We have engineered wood in our kitchen and it is just fine. I’d tend towards a lacquered finish rather than an oiled one as they are more hardwearing.

We've got LVT which looks fantastic. Had it 9 years and wearing really well - not cold underfoot and easy to mop.

We are putting in solid wood I think, however I saw a new Quickstep engineered wood which had just come out and is waterproof www.quick-step.co.uk/en-gb/hardwood/cascada

I went to see in a showroom and it felt just like matte wood - not awfully shiny or lacquered etc. So I'm kind of between solid wood or this maybe. It's hard because I know I'm not the sort of person to mop spills up instantly, especially if I've got people over

We put engineered oak in our kitchen and it was a terrible idea. Every time you dropped anything it dented. And it got really stained.

We've got lacquered Kahrs oak flooring all over downstairs. It's been through two kids and several cats over 30 years. Yes, it has got a few scratches and dents, but it's real wood so..... I quite like that it looks real. We kept a few planks, and as it's click fitted were able to replace some when we re-did the downstairs loo. It's way to keep clean, and lovely and warm underfoot.
