Curtain width

Just looking for some curtain advice.
The length of my curtain pole is 260cm, but the curtains I would like only go as far as 225cm width. I know it's not the optimum, but will they still look okay, or absolutely not?

You should buy 1.5 x the size if your pole.

I would buy 2 sets of those curtains - 1 set will not have enough fabric to pull up to give decent hanging coverage.

@DameMargaretofChalfont would you then sew them together?

Ideally, with 2 curtains, each curtain should be the width of your pole so the fabric is x2 the width in total.

I've had this issue - bought 2 sets and sewed them together. The fuller the curtains, the better they look.

Not necessarily - when open the curtains would hang at the side of your window and, when closed you just pull them together and ensure that there are no gaps.

As an aside, you said your pole is 260cm - does this allow for the curtains to hang (when in the open position) against a wall rather than covering the window?

If the window is 250-260cm I would recommend a pole of around 3m so that, when in the open position, the curtains hang and cover a wall rather than the glass window. This allows maximum light into the room.

Check whether the width of the ones you like is per curtain (it usually is) or per pair. If it's per curtain, that will be fine I'd say.

@DameMargaretofChalfont the 260cm does allow for the curtains to hang either side of the window, so the actual window is about 235cm ish. I think I may need to remeasure in the morning.

It depends also on the type of curtains
I have found that typically eyelet curtains have less fabric per width in them so you need wider to give a decent fullness
In that case, I would definitely buy two sets
