Mid sleeper bed

Would a 12 year old be too old for a mid sleeper bed? My daughter has the box room but it’s tiny and has one of those annoying stair boxes in it. I was thinking of cutting the legs off a mid sleeper and putting it on the box to create more space. Anyone teen have a mid sleeper?

We have just moved house, and cut the legs off the mid sleeper the 13 year old has used for nearly 10 years - mainly because of a different room shape.

I think, given the stair box info, I'd get a carpenter to build a bed in the space at stair box height, and put drawers underneath.

They’re just single beds aren’t they, not sure I understand why she’s be too old? And given the stair box it seems like the best solution to getting everything in a tiny room. But getting a carpenter to build it in might be more sturdy than a DIY saw job.

That would cost a fortune unfortunately 😔 looking for a cheap way

I had a box room with the stair bulkhead in my room (that wouldn’t have been big enough to put a whole bed on in my case - is yours really that big?

I had an ottoman style bed on one side of the room and then a little fold-down flap desk on the stair bulkhead so I could use it as my desk and then I had a wall full of shelves above the bulkhead so the space was used really productively.

I wouldn’t have wanted a midi sleeper in my later teens

Yes it would definitely fit on it and I’ve seen people do the same but for much younger kids that’s my dilemma

it would be absolutely fine for a 12 year old. decorate the room & bed in a more teen style (look at the IKEA teen bedrooms) and it will work out.

also, make sure the ladder is wide enough & strong enough for a teen. My DD had a mid sleeper from age 7-11 but one reason we got rid of it is that the ladder was too narrow for me to climb without difficulty (e.g. to change sheets) and nearly broke under my weight (I'm not that large). So I didn't want it to break when she got bigger.
