Chair bed ?

I'm struck down with Covid and DH always moves out of the bedroom when I'm unwell and onto the sofa. He's too tall for the sofa and now has a cricked neck.

We have room in my office for a fold out single sofa bed but I don't have £££ to spend.

Does anyone have one they can recommend ?

My go-to would be the Futon Company. They always have sales on, but admittedly you probably could get something cheaper.

Following as I want something similar for my son’s computer room. The ones I have actually sat on are very uncomfortable, like sitting on a dining chair not a nice squishy chair.

Sorry you are unwell. We are in the opposite situation, DH is ill, we think it's Covid although he has tested negative, but my teens have just both had it and he the same symptoms. I'm on the sofa. Luckily I'm short. Aside from that, we have a couple of Haru sofabeds from Made which we have been really pleased with (now sold by Next), but they are not available immediately. However, Habitat do something that looks almost identical and is cheaper:

Actually had a look and the lead times for the Habitat ones are even longer than the Haru ones from Next. But overall we have found that design really good, we have a single and a double and they make great chairs and occasional beds if you are considering a longer term solution rather than something you need immediately. We tend to put a mattress topper on for a bed as they are a bit form, but better than any other sofabeds we've ever had and reasonably priced.

Honestly I have two chair beds that are uncomfortable when they fold out ( they are very pretty but weren't cheap ...).

I actually ended up getting one of these https://www.raviday-matelas.com/pack-matelas-gonflable-electrique-1-place-intex-supreme-bed-fiber-tech-drap-housse/?pk_campaign=GoogleAds-GoogleShopping&pk_kwd=&pk_productid=15257&pk_source=google&pk_medium=cpc&pk_content=261708057987&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIq-KHy_Oc_gIVBJBoCR3wHwZCEAQYASABEgJUsvD_BwE
You plug it in and it blows up in less that 5 minutes.

Its wider than a single and as high as a normal bed and actually pretty confortable! I put it down on a yoga mat so it doesn't slip around and then put a fleece under the sheet so it doesn't feel plasticky. Whilst its up I leave a double bed bed spread over it so you can't see it's a blow up at all.

Wow I hadn't considered a blow up solution.
This could work! Thanks.

Am not thinking of it for now rather than the inevitable next time one of us is unwell.

These do look nice. Would need it to be assembled in situ or be small enough to get up my windy stairs.

Thank you!

@belikejeff, they are quite easy to move. The legs screw on as far as I remember and the whole thing is quite lightweight. Because it has no arms it is much lighter than a regular sofa and the seat obviously unfolds. I think the single one would be quite easy to manoeuvre upstairs with 2 people, I'm pretty sure I've moved that one between rooms on the same floor on my own.

burgledinParis · 09/04/2023 17:17

@belikejeff

The single one I have is quite new, but I have the same as a double that I got about 6 years ago for a holiday and it's been lent left and right, folded up badly and generally mistreated and it's still going strong - it needs a bit of a top up after 3/4 nights in a row - but is generally amazing. They are heavy when folded up and take up the space of a big full bag for life - but the new generation "luxury" high ones are good.
