Please could someone help me?!

I have overthought to the point I am driving myself mad.

I need to choose a new colour for my hallway and landing, also my kitchen.

At the moment the hallway and stairs are a light grey. Hallway is narrow and leads straight upstairs onto the landing. Big shiny cream tiles when you walk in the front door, 3 or 4 metres straight ahead are wooden stairs with white backs if that makes sense, cream carpet on the landing.

I was thinking of some sort of cream maybe? I would like to brighten it up but I don’t think bold colours would work as landing can be dark.

Kitchen cabinets are high gloss white with dark wood countertops, same big shiny cream tiles on floor. Currently has feature wall charcoal/dark slate and rest of walls grey.

I don’t even know what is ‘in’ at the moment. I love a modern look.

please could anyone help me before someone finds me rocking in a corner chewing my sleeves?😬

Feeling your pain. I’ve always found 1829 Adam Cream a great paint to add warmth and light to a room

To add, I like the dark Bronx range from next, they do a shoe storage cabinet I like the look of and some sort of coat hook to match.

It is narrow when you come through the door so can’t really have anything too long or wide for all the shoes!

Thank you 😊.

Is it on the yellow side?

It’s hard to describe. It looks lighter on the walls than in the pot. It isn’t yellow but the tone is warm and it gives a nice glow to dark areas. I have to admit to liking most of the range. I’ve used it to cover previously grey walls and the difference was amazing in terms of how the room felt and the amount of space. There are others in the range that are cream but with cooler tones. The other thing I like is that you don’t need loads of coats. It covers and wears well.

It might look a bit depressing with just shades of cream /white, unless you add splashy colourful art, fittings and/or house plants?

Dulux timeless.

This is the colour I have for hall through to kitchen in my Edwardian house. I love a neutral, so won't be to everyone's taste!

I like Dulux Timeless too, I have it paired with Mellow Mocha in our living room which can be dingy and it works really well.

We also used Timeless with a teal colour (can't remember which brand/shade) in our last house... Would that work in your kitchen?

Rooms and spaces without much natural light often look drab and dull with pale colours rather than lighter and brighter. I read an article about this when looking for a colour for our north east facing hall which is only light for 6 months of the year in Spring/Summer. You need to go for a "dirty" version of a bright colour. So instead of yellow, a mustard tone for example. It really does add warmth and interest. We have a turquoise colour and it has made a huge difference.

Even if you're not going to use their paint I recommend using the Dulux Vizualizer app to try out different colours. I've found it pretty accurate when it comes to seeing what colours will look like in the light conditions in a room. If only I'd used it before we painted our living room Mellow Mocha. It was bloody lilac and we had to find something else.

Dulux clouded Pearl 4

Just about to paint my whole house this on the advice of an architect/interior designer. It works everywhere.

Ilia. You have a nice house. Colour is great and you don’t often see dado rails.

Chippy1234 · 08/04/2023 08:50

Actually - maybe this isn’t your house and it’s just a generic picture to show the colour!

Oliack1417 · 08/04/2023 09:23

It is mine Chippy! thank you

ababyhamster · 09/04/2023 07:25

Gorgeous colour - what is it? Exactly what I've been looking for!

Oliack1417 · 09/04/2023 12:36

Hi. Colour is 'feathers of a dove' by valspar

OMG another Mellow Mocha victim here! All neutrals are not created equal 😱
We use Natural Hessian as a warm neutral OP but it's soooo boring I'd take the advice of pp and go bold!
